The Government has declared violence against women to be a national emergency. Yet it's about to dump 600 young men, many from misogynistic societies, into Crowborough. This is 100% incompatible, says Madeleine Gillies.

Dublin Clean Canals

The Dublin Clean Canals group is a collective of a number of local voluntary clean up groups along both of the canals running through Dublin.

Inchicore Environmental Group - https://inchicoreenvironmental.com/
Grand Canal Biodiversity and Clean Up Group - https://www.facebook.com/CanalBiodiversityCleanup/
Friends of the Grand Canal - https://www.fotgc.ie/
Grand Canal Dock Community Clean Up - https://www.facebook.com/groups/GCDCleanUp/
Royal Canal Clean Up Group - http://www.royalcanalcleanup.com/

With support from Dublin City and Fingal councils and Waterways Ireland amongst others the individual groups run clean-ups throughout the year within the city. The groups come together once a year to bring some focus to our much loved canals and run one large Action Day event.

What we do

The aim of this group is to promote the use of both of Dublin’s beautiful canals to their fullest potential as amenities and safe areas for wildlife and right through the city.

To this end regular volunteer clean ups are organised throughout the year and this year will see the third ever group clean up, Dublin Canals Action Day. on April 21st.

Join us on April 21st at one of our 9 starting points:

Bulfin Estate Resident’s Hall
Sally’s Bridge
Leeson Street Bridge
Grand Canal Basin
Spencer Dock
North Strand
Cross Guns Bridge
Ashtown
Castleknock

All groups (bar one) meet at 10:45 for a 13:00 finish. The Bulfin group will begin and finish one hour earlier. Please plan to stay a little afterwards as we will have teas, coffees and treats to wind down with, and hope to exchange rubbish-wrestling stories!
