[Dublin] Pride Alternative 2019 (QAI)

category dublin | gender and sexuality | event notice author Thursday June 27, 2019 23:28author by ipsc

Sat, 29 June 2019, 12:00 Rosie Hackett Bridge, Dublin

In solidarity with our friends in Queer Action Ireland, who have always invited IPSC to be part of their radical anti-pinkwashing bloc at Pride down the years, we are supporting their Pride Alternative action. QAI, for a myriad of reasons, feel they can no longer march in the official pride parade.

These reasons include the presence of, or sponsorship by, companies that are hostile to Palestinian rights or profit from Israel’s occupation and human rights abuses; companies like Airbnb, PayPal, AXA, Tesco and Bank of Ireland . It is also disconcerting that one of the parade’s “Pride Partners” is none other than the Israeli website company Wix, founded by a former member of the Israeli military’s Unit 8200, a unit that spies on and blackmails LGBTQ+ Palestinians.

Queer Action Ireland are inviting all queers (and allies) who cannot accept the current state of Dublin Pride as a sanitised and assimilated event in direct opposition to the spirit of Stonewall, to join us for a Pride Alternative at 12pm on the Rosie Hackett Bridge, June 29th 2019.

This grassroots organised event will be about listening to each other, highlighting our queer struggles, and working to draw attention to the issues that face our community today.

Join us for speeches, bring your banners, and let’s recapture the spirit of Pride in all its glory.

PLEASE JOIN, SHARE & INVITE YOUR FRIENDS ON FACEBOOK, THANKS!
