PROTEST BY ‘FREE SEAMUS DOHERTY CAMPAIGN’

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement call upon all concerned members of the Republican community to support the march organized by the ‘Free Seamus Doherty Campaign’ in Derry on Saturday the 23rd October. The rallying point for the event will be at Free Derry Corner at 2:30pm sharp.

Prominent speakers from both the 32 County Sovereignty Movement and the Irish Republican Prisoners Welfare Association will be in attendance.

Seamus Doherty has been in Maghaberry Jail on remand since 13 June 2003 when he was charged in connection with the discovery of two Booby-trap car bombs near Newry in September 2002. It is claimed that forensic evidence,namely DNA, links Seamus Doherty to components on one of the bombs. It has
since been revealed that Crown forces conspired to frame two innocent South Down men, Martin Brogan and Mark Carroll, in connection with the explosives find and both men subsequently had all charges dropped.

The detention of Seamus Doherty by the British State through the manipulation and tampering of evidence is a travesty. It goes against any sense of true justice that both him and his family should continue to go through this ordeal and we urge everyone to stand shoulder to shoulder with them in their plight to have Seamus released.
