On BBC Politics Chris Packham claimed "something called science" is evidence that the recent Dubai flooding was caused by climate change. But there's nothing scientific about the models that 'prove' that, says Paul Sutton.

Lots of flirting with the libel and slander laws going on to say the least.

I believe in free press... but as I know some of the people mentioned in said blog, i can confirm that the allegations are without base and are malicious slander at the very least...

I thought it would be other stuff that would get this blog shut down.

Cryptome published some lovely photos of Garda special branch recently, and then this libellous piece of shite appears which quite frankly is putting peoples lives at serious risk. Funny there arent many criticisms of the guards in it. I talked to someone last night who made a post critical of the guards on it and, surprise surprise, it was deleted.

Funny that..

The bloggers (branch-men?) named a number of Taxi firms in Dundalk which they claimed were IRA fronts. These posts were there for 2 days. Then someone posted in that the site had just made every single last vulnerable taxi driver for all those firms a target for loyalist assassins. Surprise surprise, they took down the post, after passing a load of names to the guards (themselves?), but now theyre going to put up even more instead.

If I was a taxi driver Id be contacting my solicitor immediately claiming I was unable to work for fear of being murdered , and suffering emotional distress. Sue the bollocks off them.

Given that theyve been running down Dundalks solicitors as well (were the guards caught lying in court again ?) I think thered be no shortage of briefs to take their cases for them.

I hope someone sues and well find out who was behind it. That would be funny.

There seemed to me thinking back on looking at the blog to be a huge amount of supposedly knowledgeable posts on the original blog for a site that according to the 'administrator' had had 1000 hits. Nearly one in 10 hitters must have been willing to a) Deposit the name of a criminal b) drug dealer c) republican d) disclose inside operations of vodaphone How likely is that?

Smells rotten? More comment at the slugger link.

Meanwhile in other stranger than fiction irish linked website news:

"TWO disgruntled former army intelligence agents have caused a security alert after hijacking a military website. The men were able to take control of the site’s e-mailing facility shortly before Christmas after the Intelligence Corps apparently failed to renew its subscription."

Anti-republican website pulled
January 09, 2005
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2091-1432029,00.html

A SPOOF website that accused a relative of Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams of being an informer has been removed following complaints from Sinn Fein and Vodafone.

The bulletin board is directed against republicans and businesses in Dundalk, the border town nicknamed “El Paso” because of the number of IRA members who fled there during the Troubles.

The letter on Cryptome refers to the owner of the website as "Kevin Fulton" - now there's a name that rings a bell - British agent who infiltrated the IRA, aka Peter Keeley, a frequent performer sitting in the dark or with a hood on TV documentaries.

Then again, the 'Kevin Fulton' thing could just as easily be a red herring. there is definitely something very fishy about the whole thing.

Brit and free state intelligence thrive on misinformation, confusion, etc. Do not expect to get clear answers to this.

Oh! so a " Brit -free state" conspiracy now?,or maybe just a dud local with a PC ! ( much more likely - one should always opt for stupidity over conspiracy and 9 times out of ten you'll not go wrong)

There are several things that are _seriously_ fishy about this story as well as the kevin fulton name

Whoever put it up obviously had a long list of local republicans to hand in advance as well as local crims. The number of contributions that the site received in the first days means that we can pretty much rule out the chance that they were randomly contributed by users. The site made national news within a week or so of going live and by this time they already had a long list of names.

You're not be chance employed in the security area are you? A much better rule of thumb is that when shadowy figures carry out actions against republicans in seriously suspicious circumstances, the security services are involved.
