Department of Health UK/Northern Ireland, figures reveal more than 200 care staff a month, are referred to the register set up to protect the elderly, mentally ill, and people with learning difficulties.
Neglect, physical and financial abuse were the top 3 reasons care staff are referred to the register.
The vast majority of people reported to the Protection of Vunerable Adults Scheme since its launch last July were working in Private sector residential care homes.
