Solidarity & Waste disposal protest , Davitt Road Depoit 11am, Sat 23rd Sept

The Drimagh Anti Bin Tax Campaign has organised very effective protests at Davitt Road Depot over the last two Saturdays. Over 250 people have turned up at the depot, wheelie bins in tow and have disposed of waste bags in an effective and organised fashion at the depot in protest at the non collection of our bins for non payment of the double tax of Bin Tax. These protests have served two purposes. 1. Solidarity and public protest at non collection and 2.a practical way for people who cannot dispose of their waste into the bin trucks on the mornings of the collection because of work.

This Saturday, 23rd of Sept at 11am the Drimnagh Anti Bin tax Campaign is organising it's third consecutive protest at Davitt Road Council Depot, On each of the protests over 250 people. women, children and men have turned up to demonstrate their opposition to the non collection of their bins and have disposed of their waste outside the depot. After the protest a meeting is held at the nearby derilict petrol station where we discuss out our plans for the Campaign and decisions are taken in regard to activities and protests. This protest has built solidarity and community support in the Drimnagh area, practically gives people the opportunity of disposing our waste in an organised way and democratically discusses the strategy of the Campaign from week to week. Understanding that not all areas are near a depot but this type of activity can be could be adapted in communities throughout Dublin to support your Community against non collection. The Ballyfermot Campaign is linking in with the protest and also Crumlin and Walkinstown. The Drimnagh Anti Bin tax campaign welcome's support from all groups and Campaigns.
