éirígí’s ‘Reclaim the Republic’ campaign reached Derry on Friday, the 30th of March, with copies of the 1916 Proclamation of The Irish Republic being distributed to homes in both Bellaghy and Maghera. A group of local éirígí activists and supporters were joined by comrades from Dublin and Belfast for this, the first distribution of éirígí material in the occupied six counties.

Speaking in Bellaghy éirígí member Geraldine Dougan said that the Proclamation ‘contains the essence of what socialist republicanism is all about – the ending of British rule in Ireland and the establishment of a Republic that cherishes ‘all the children of the Nation equally’.

She continued stating that ‘…éirígí represents the best political vehicle for those who wish to see a British withdrawal from Ireland and real change in the way wealth and power are distributed in Ireland ….I would encourage people to become involved in supporting both éirígí and the wider building of a movement for Irish freedom’

great to see eirigi active in the north. The caliber and credibility of the Republicans you've got on board are beyond question. Hundreds of Republicans accross the north looking for a new home. Maybe eirigi will fit the bill for some of them.

This is great news. Fair play to Dominic & Geraldine. I know and respect them both.

Why shouldn't Dom 'look around' for an alternative to the organisation that he served and then left? While there will always be those who will lie about their former comrades (with the intention being to downplay the fact of political differences), It seems that he has now found that alternative. I think we'll have to wait and see where it goes. I don't think anyone who knows him could honestly cast aspersions on his character nor commitment.

Great to see Éirigí in Derry. They are moving ahead slowly but surely. If Éirigí feel that Dom is worthy of membership, then I'm sure he is. They are very careful of who they leave on board. No one can be liked and trusted by everyone, Éirigí cannot let its membership decisions be dictated by personal grudges that others may have.
