Republicans seek end to English rule in Ireland
RSF have condemned the Provos for joining Magherafelt DPP.
REPUBLICANS SEEK END TO ENGLISH RULE IN IRELAND
Responding to comments made by a South Derry Provo Councillor regarding the taking of their seats on Magherafelt District Policing Partnership, Richard Walsh (PRO of Comhairle Uladh and Ard-Chomhairle member of Republican Sinn Féin) stated that no British Colonial Police force could ever be acceptable to true Republicans.
“Seán McPeake claimed that their 'Republican (sic) presence [on the DPPs] will be the guarantee' that the RUC does not engage in a 'heavy-handed ... political, sectarian and partisan' approach to what he calls 'policing'. The fact is that the Provos have acted merely as cheerleaders for the RUC on the Policing Board, and will continue to act in such a manner within the DPP structures. Pressurising people to support the British Colonial Police and to act as collaborators with British colonial rule simply labels them as the enemies of Irish Republicanism and indeed enemies of the All-Ireland Republic.
“Mr. McPeake's comments that the Provos are working to ensure the RUC do their job can only be interpreted as meaning that they wish to see more Republicans imprisoned on spurious charges. They will not be the voice for those who have experienced bad policing, but will themselves become the voice of bad policing.”
Mr. Walsh added that Republicans “do not seek a new-look RUC, but a complete end to English rule in Ireland.”
