The Limerick branch of the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign will have an Israeli diamond information stall at the corner of O'Connell Street and Thomas Street from 2:00 PM on Saturday afternoon.
IPSC volunteers will hand out fliers alerting the public to the trade in Israeli diamonds, informing shoppers how the Israeli diamond trade underpins the apartheid regeime in Israel and helps to fund violations of international humanitarian law and human rights abuses in Palestine. Shoppers will be encouraged to sign a petition to the Retail Jewellers of Ireland calling for all diamonds to be hallmarked in order to identify where they were crafted and for the UN Kimberly Process definition of conflict or blood diamonds to be amended so it no longer excludes cut and polished diamonds from conflict zones.
