5 pm Feic Vigil at Raytheon Derry

category derry | anti-war / imperialism | event notice author Thursday July 10, 2008 02:26author by F.E.I.C. Report this post to the editors

Feic Vigil at Raytheon Derry
Friday 11 July, 5pm Branch Rd.
off Buncrana Rd. Derry

It's the ninth anniversary of the announcement that Raytheon were coming to Derry.

How many anniversaries of deaths, maimings and losses courtesy
of Raytheon technology have been kept and endured in those nine years?
Heralded as 'the dividends of peace' Raytheon's reality is war.

Any smoke screen of uncertainty or mask of respectable
employment have long since been blown away.

Ireland's response to Lisbon illustrates that the people have a voice.

If an X on a piece of paper can make a difference, then so can a
presence outside an arms company.

Help make that difference. Keep vigil with us in memory of all the
victims and in the ongoing call for them to leave.

Vigil: Fri, 5-5.30pm Raytheon, Branch Road, off Buncrana
Road.

_*All*_ welcome

As with all these events we try and maintain an atmosphere that is as child friendly as possible. We've managed to do this, even on the one occasion when boiler-suited DMSU cops arrived en masse and began video-taping us. On that occasion we extracted a promise from the commanding officer that the tapes would be destroyed.
