Dublin-born Dick Donoghue has long been associated with the arts in Galway and with Macnas, the Galway Arts Centre, among others, and has published two children's books with An Gúm. Recently his first adult novel, 'Dance of the Mocking Birds,' was launched in Galway. John Arden is a respected and renowned playwright and novelist, whose stories, 'Gallows And other Tales of Suspicion and Obsession,' were published earlier this year. Margaretta D'Arcy is a writer and activist for many years whose memoir, 'Loose Theatre,' received considerable acclaim.
"We are grateful to Paraic Breathnach of Galway Arts Centre for allowing us to have the Nuyns Island premises,'" says the Centre's Director, Fred Johnston. "It promises to be a good night. There will be discussion and questions to follow the readings."
The Centre has recently renewed its appeal to Galway City Council for suitable premises in which to house an office and small library-cum-reading space, particularly in view of a bequest of hundreds of signed books made to the Centre from a Dublin source.
