With up to 3 racist attacks carried out a day in northern ireland, the ARN had organised a rally to highlight the probelm. The south belfast area which has the highest number of racist attacks, the anti racism contigent set off from shaftsbury sq at 1.00pm, with about 25 marchers, the police said we could not march unless under Parade commission rules we had stewards to protect the marchers and maintain order. read full story / add a comment

The official launch of the Belfast newspaper ‘Street Seen’ is to take place at the Belfast Unemployed Resource Centre, Donegal Street at 3.30pm this Tuesday 19th October. The paper is to be a local street paper for homeless people in Belfast and apart from advice and support for homeless people; it will cover politics, culture and many issues relevant to society. On Thursday 12th August 5 anti-war campaigners are on trial for their part in protests against George Bush’s visit to Northern Ireland in April 2003 had their Charges dropped. Last Thursdays 5th Aug Food Not Bombs Soup kitchen had an international flavour with around 20 folk turning up to show solidarity & support with the collective following our recent brushes with the PSNI. It was quite a sight, tables & chairs where set up on Botanic Avenue summer salads & sandwiches served up & part of the street was reclaimed for an hour & a half in the name of people not profit. read full story / add a comment
