"IMAGINE! THEY DID NOT WANT TO KNOW! THEY LOOKED THE OTHER WAY!". Not many British commoners or citizens of the Irish scum states, want to think about secret courts, secret trials or internment without trial, these days. How often were the German people accused, of reacting to the rise of Hitler and his persecutions in these precise terms. "IMAGINE! THEY DID NOT WANT TO KNOW! After her recent harassment by the resurrected heavy gang of the Gardai in the unfree southern Irish State, parliamentarian Clare Daly asked the Tánaiste or Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, the steps he had taken in his dealings with the British occupiers to highlight the wide-spread concern, that exists in Ireland with regard to persons being in prison without knowing the charges against them and without an open transparent trial. Below is a summary of the article which hopefully the socialist Quill will permit without censorship. read full story / add a comment

SPANISH chef lost his sense of taste and had his skull reinforced with screws after being struck with a golf club and wooden samurai sword in a savage street assault.
Jorge Roca (40), from Valencia in Spain, insisted he still loves Ireland and Cork despite the unprovoked attack that left him fighting for his life.
Shane Cotter (20) of Annmount Cross, Friars Walk, Cork, who has 49 previous convictions, was jailed for three years for assault causing serious harm.
''Danny O'Brien (20) of Brandon Court, Dillons Cross, Cork, who produced the golf club used by Cotter to attack Mr Roca and who has 84 previous convictions, was jailed for 18 months for violent disorder.
The Spaniard told the Irish Independent he was disappointed with the sentences. "I am not a judge. I am a chef. But that was not really very good," he said.
Cotter later told Gardai: "I wanted to do damage. I was in a temper. I wanted to kill him."

do we remember some years ago. a African youth who with his friends was out playing football. if my mind recall it was during the Easter holidays. some years ago. today in Dublin the jury gave its verdict into the murder of this youth. we cant afford to be smug and sit back and say what can we do about it. becoming full with apathy. we cant afford to remain indifferent. with attitude it doesn't affect me. ''A deaf man has apologised for the death of a man who was hit by a bus following an alleged roadside altercation, a court has heard.
Edward Connors, who is profoundly deaf, has been charged with the manslaughter of Eoghan Dudley.
The 28-year-old died last Thursday evening after suffering severe head injuries in the incident in Dublin city centre.
Connors, 29, who has been living in a homeless hostel in Dublin, was brought before the city's District Court where proceedings were translated through a sign language interpreter.
Cahir O'Higgins, defending, requested that his client have an interpreter present when booked in to prison. He told the judge that Connors also relied on a methadone prescription and asked that all medical assistance be given to him in prison. No application was made for bail. The judge granted legal aid and requested the appropriate authorities to ensure whatever medical assistance is needed.''

This is the memoir of an Ordinary Person. A memoir that:
spans from December 2006 to May 2011;
describes the author's struggle against an "alleged" constructive dismissal by one of Ireland's leading law firms;
tells of the author's challenge to the Employment Appeals Tribunal to remain impartial;
outlines the author's application to the Legal Aid Board to provide assistance;
questions the validity of the Courts' Customer Service Strategic Plan, the internal systems and the treatment of people who cannot afford legal counsel; and
gives an account of the author's challenge to the Law Courts when she self-represented agains the Firm.
It is the story of a system that is protected by self-regulation and the separation of powers and which has thrived because of the unwritten Code of Practice.
It is the story of The Judiciary - An Ordinary Person's Perspective.

The shooting dead yesterday, at 7.30 a.m of a senior prison officer of Maghaberry jail while a major security alert was in progress, just a little further along the motorway, at a shopping centre in Sprucefield, near Lisburn, as bomb disposal experts were checking a car, confirms that MI5 have succeeded in finishing the Peace Process in Ireland with their return to internment. While politicians on all sides went through the synthetic motions of condemning the killing, most of them ignored in the last couple of years, the underlying work needed to address justice, to bring real peace.

€1,600 billion. That is the figure for Irish Oil & Gas reserves already licensed revealed this morning in a detailed report from Shell to Sea using the energy corporations own reports and estimates. The Oslo District Court returned a verdict this week finding Anders Behring Breivik guilty of murder over the twin July 2011 terrorist attacks in Norway that led to 77 deaths . The Islamophobe killer was found to be sane at the time of the attacks and sentenced to twenty-one years in prison . Jordan Shilton argues in WSWS today that the political establishment’s attempt to portray the killer as an insane “lone wolf” was part of a cover-up that started on the day the fascist was arrested. read full story / add a comment

Reminds me of how Andreas Baader committed suicide in his prison cell by shooting himself in the back of the head. Full text at link.
A 21-year old man was fatally shot in the head while handcuffed in the back of a police car in Arkansas. The police claim it was a suicide but victim's family has a hard time believing it.
Chavis Carter was arrested by two officers for carrying marijuana, after being detained at a traffic stop last Saturday. The officers say they searched him twice before placing him in the back of a police car wearing “double locked” handcuffs.
Carter allegedly called his girlfriend while at the traffic stop, telling her he’d call later from jail.
But shortly thereafter, the young man was found slumped over in the back of the police car with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. The officers claim they were nowhere near the car when the gun was fired. read full story / add a comment

On Monday 18th June 2012, a group representing some of the bereaved Omagh families presented Northern Ireland Secretary of State Owen Patterson with a specially commissioned report claiming that the atrocity could have been prevented by both governments. After the meeting, a spokesperson for the families in a delicately veiled threat called on both governments to respond positively or face a court challenge. The relatives also told the waiting media “we have brought together all available evidence on the case and showed where the authorities on both sides of the border could have prevented the bomb attack on Omagh.” The report was commissioned from a group of London-based-consultants and is said to contain ‘fresh information’ on the Omagh bombing. There are some issues surrounding the report that are questionable and it would be in the public interest to know exactly who financed the commissioning of the report. read full story / add a comment
