In the centre of Derry, on Saturday 24th of January 2009 members of Derry Anti-war Coalition (DAWC) read a list of the names of more than 400 children killed by Israel's attack on Gaza over the last month.

Nine women obstructed doors inside Raytheon plant in Derry by chaining themselves together and to the doors. They were protesting against the use of Raytheon's weapons by Israel in the commission of war crimes in Gaza. They also called upon the local police to investigate Raytheon's participation in such crimes. read full story / add a comment

On Saturday afternoon (3rd January 09) hundreds of people in Derry joined the world wide protests against Israel's attacks on Gaza by attending a protest rally in Guildhall Square. They were addressed by Derry City Councillors from SDLP and Sinn Féin, and by members of DAWC and SWP.

On New Year’s Eve, Ógra Shinn Féin mobilised at the Diamond in Derry City alongside other political groups, to demonstrate solidarity with the beleaguered people of Gaza, who are being, murdered and injured in their hundreds daily by Israeli rockets.

Following the protest the assembled groups and activists, met to decide further co-ordinated solidarity acts for Palestine which include a public rally in Guildhall Square Derry this Saturday at 3pm.

It has come to the attention of the John Mitchel Cumann of Republican Sinn Féin in County Derry that rumours are circulating in the Dungiven area that members of the organisation were responsible for the removal of posters supporting singer Eoghan Quigg’s ‘X Factor’ campaign. This afternoon in Derry City over thirty people held a solidarity protest with Hunger Striker Maura Harrington and the Shell To Sea Campaign at Guildhall Square.

During the protest, several hundred leaflets were distributed urging people to show their support and solidarity. As the protest got under way, activists telephoned Maura to wish her solidarity and strength in her actions. read full story / add a comment

On the 10th Anniversary of the Omagh bombings of August 15th 2008 in Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland, which left 29 people dead and more than 200 injured, a relative of a victim of the bomb has accused that British agents were responsible for carrying out the attacks. read full story / add a comment

Jim Keys, a member of the Foyle Ethical Investment Campaign (FEIC), was arrested on Friday after their monthly peace vigil outside Raytheon’s Derry software facility. His crime? Ógra Shinn Féin National Organiser Barry McColgan has urged young republicans to mobilise for the annual Hunger Strike march, on Sunday 17th August and which is due to be held in Derry for the first time in 27 years.

Republican youth from throughout Ireland, will form up at Bishop’s Field Green, Creggan Shops, from 2pm on the day of the march.
