The Conference of the Isles will take place 31 May – 1 June 2006 in the Hillgrove Hotel, County Monaghan, Ireland. On tuesday the 6th December homeless activists will again attempt to hand in a petition to Bertie Ahern. At the same time the matter will be raised in the Dáil. Around 20,000 signatures have been gathered over the last couple of months calling on the government to hand over the proceed's of the sale of the old UCD veterinary site in Ballsbridge to Dublin City Council for the purposes of eradicating homelessness. Yesterday, 30th November, the property was sold for a record breaking €171 million. This amount has broken previous amounts paid per acre.
Street Seen will gather outside the Dáil from 4 o'clock on 6th December. Please come and join the protest. Bring music, banners, placards, and most importantly yourselves. read full story / add a comment

Over 30 years of Community have been crushed by Riot police in the center of London City. St Agnes place squatted community has finaly been evicted. The houses had been empty for almost 15 years in 1974 when a few squatters rebuilt the decaying buildings and created a vibrant rastafarian community complete with it's own temple, a community TV station and a community radio station, social centers, libraries. read full story / add a comment

"Table Quiz in aid of the Simon Community"
This Wednesday 30th November 2005 at 8pm.
Upstairs from Conways pub, Parnell St., Dublin 1.
This Table Quiz is being held as a fundraiser for the Simon Community. Mary Doherty, who works with Simon, and Orla Dwyer are organsing it and they will be continuing their sponsorship fundraising drive into the new year so as to be able to partake in the "Simon Community climb of Kilimanjaro mountain in Tanzania" next Autumn 2006.
Loadsa prizes and craic guaranteed.

On Wednesday 30th of November the auction of the site of the old UCD Veterinary buildings will be sold to the highest bidder. The current value of the site is €100 million. Over the last couple of months, homeless activists have gathered signatures in support of Street Seen's demand for the government to hand over the land or the proceed's of the sale to Dublin City Council for the purpose of eradicating the homeless crisis in Dublin. Nearly 20,000 signatures of support have been gathered from the public in support of this demand.
On Wednesday 30th November Street Seen will be handing in the petitions. This will take place at 1 o'clock at the front gates of the Dáil. Street Seen has called on Bertie Aherne to come out to collect the signatures. read full story / add a comment

A public meeting took place in Dun Laoighre on Wednesday night to highlight the need for action on the current national housing crisis.
