<P>This peaceful assembly is part of Global Bersih initiative that will see solidarity rallies and gatherings by the Malaysian diaspora, and is set to take place in over 30 cities across the world on the weekend of 29 & 30 August 2015. These global rallies are in support of the Bersih 4.0 rallies that will be held in Malaysia that same weekend.<br />

The last peaceful rally, Bersih 3.0 in 2012 in Kuala Lumpur, ended up with participants wounded by police brutality, tear gas and blasted by water cannons.</P><P>**** Malaysian civil-rights assembly, Bersih 4 Dublin at St. Stephen's Green, Dublin on 30 August 2015 from 1.30 - 2.30pm. ****<br />

The upcoming Bersih 4.0 rallies come at a very critical juncture in Malaysian democracy, economy, and constitutional and human rights..<br />
<br />
<strong>WHY BERSIH?</strong><br />
<br />
There have been three Bersih rallies held in the past, and the fourth upcoming rally Bersih 4.0 will be held on a global scale once again, and Malaysians in Ireland are coming out in force to show solidarity, and to make their voices heard.<br />
Bersih 4.0 is crucial platform for ordinary Malaysians to voice their dissatisfaction as the political scene and economic state in Malaysia has reached a critical point. Malaysians have so far endured the 1MDB scandal that has seen our Prime Minister transferring approximately US$700million of "public borrowings from an old age pension fund into his personal account" (Wall Street Journal and Sarawak Report), a sudden cabinet reshuffle, unfair elections, archaic restrictions on the Freedom of Press, Speech and the right to protest.<br />
<br />
Bersih's demands at the rallies are:<br />

- Clean elections<br />

- Clean government<br />
<br />
- Save our economy<br />
<br />
- Right to dissent<br />
<br />
- Strengthen parliamentary democracy<br />

<strong>ABOUT BERSIH</strong><br />

"The Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (better known by its Bahasa Malaysia name “BERSIH”) issued its first joint communiqué on 23 November 2006. BERSIH was relaunched as BERSIH 2.0 in Malaysia, a coalition of like minded civil society organisations unaffiliated to any political party", whose aim is "to effectively monitor both sides of the political divide."<br />

Bersih chapters all over the world (e.g. Bersih Dublin, Bersih Shanghai, Bersih Washington) are voluntary and unofficially-affiliated with Global Bersih. All international Bersih chapters that are recognised by,and work together with Global Bersih, align themselves with Bersih 2.0's mission and vision as a civil-rights movement of the people in Malaysia.<br />
