Food Not Bombs V's Mc Hunger

Mc Hunger, Mc Greed, Mc Murder, Mc Garbage,Mc Dollars,

real food for real people..............
We love food, not bombs

OCT 16 INTERNATIONAL FOOD DAY
food not bombs Kilkenny took to the streets to celebrate the joys of real food/slow food/vegan food for what was also international anti Mc Donald's day, starting in true food not bombs style on the front doorstep we jostled with dozens of school kid's who were declaring their right to remain as they themselves were protesting! Cute, but the option of moving across the narrow street to where the sun was shining and we would be visible to the main road was being considered.
We started with the vegan curry and rice and the kids much to their own surprise liked it : )
the manager and owner however were less than impressed with the meal, claiming that we were
tress-passing on his forecourt (and somehow harassing the staff) he became obsessed with the bikes that were locked to "his" railing! Just as well the guy with the bolt cutters didn't show up :)
But the ever faithful guardians of the peace were at hand, the concerned officer agreed that the
claim that we were tress passing was questionable at least, and we had the right to continue our
protest, we did agree to move across the road as this stage there was no room left on the footpath
and the paella cooker was a bit of a fire hazard on the road!
Everything improved with the sun shining on us,as we offered cups of tea or a full lunch to people
passing by, the kids from the houses came out onto the street to talk to us and as soon as the school beside the Mc Donald's was finished for the day the kids came rushing out to us, scoffing down vegan burgers with organic sauce, the look on their parents faces to hear that this was spinach and beans with onion and garlic, they were more than happy to see their children eat it!
Even Kilkenny's environmental warden had to agree that we were doing nothing wrong by sharing a large lunch, and the two guy's with him were quick to point out that they were with the housing department and so it had nothing to do with them! The Mc angry men across the road didn't agree, however seeing that despite almost 2 hours of phone calls complaining us to every department possible they couldn't move us stop us or charge us. Beautiful , we fed at least 100 people and they enjoyed it, but so did we ; )
