Solidarity event for family of imprisoned whistleblower Private Manning

An evening for Private Chelsea (Bradley) Manning.
Human Rights lawyer Gareth Peirce also invited.

Members of Pvt. Manning's family will be in attendance.
Pvt. Manning has close family connections with Dublin.

Join us at 7pm sharp at Edmund Burke Theatre, Trinity College, Dublin.

Private Manning has been sentenced to 35 years for blowing the whistle on war crimes.

This sentence on 20 counts of espionage followed three years of pre-trial detention including nearly a year of torture.

Pvt. Manning...

- was born in the US
- spent teenage years in Wales
- returned to the US and signed up with a view to getting a college education
- was deployed to Iraq as a military intelligence analyst
- travelled through Shannon Airport en route to Iraq
- released significant documents to the world through WikiLeaks including collateralmurder.com video
- was arrested in Iraq
- was caged and tortured in Kuwait
- was held and tortured in Quantico, back in the US
- has now been sentenced to 35 years military detention in the US
- is being held at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas
