Foreign backed coup in Kiev.
This year will mark the one hundredth anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War. Observing the media of Europe and the U.S one could be forgiven for seeing startling similarities between 2014 and 1914. Imperialist powers and entangling alliances pitting the world into two opposing camps over the fate of a small nation. In this case the autonomous Republic of Crimea. Crimea which is an autonomous region belonging to Ukraine but with an ethnic Russian majority has held the attention of world since the Pro-Russian government of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych was overthrown by rioters in the countries capital of Kiev on February 23rd, 2014.
One of the first acts of the new government, many of whom are ultra-nationalists and extreme far right was to make Ukrainian the only official language of the country. This was seen as a sign of things to come by the millions of Ethnic Russians who live in the Ukraine, mostly in the south and east of the country. Russia who shares a border with Ukraine and has a naval base in the Crimea stated it is its duty to protect its citizens and compatriots in Crimea from the new authorities in Kiev.
This is the situation at face value, however as always, the political intrigue is far deeper than at first glance. The protests began last November, when President Yanukovch pulled out of an association deal with the EU, that was made in the hope of relieving the massive financial problems facing the country, in favour of a more lucrative deal with Russia. Many commentators have applauded this as the EU in association with the IMF have proven to be peddlers of un-repayable debt to international bankers and vicious austerity, meanwhile Russia is major gas and oil producer whom Ukraine has 40% of its trade with. Also, when it comes to those who claim to act in the interest of National sovereignty, aligning oneself with the EU and IMF is the equivalent of turkeys voting for Christmas.
So began the Ukrainian opposition protests by such democrats as the Motherland Party, headed by the, now, new Prime Minister and IMF technocrat Arseniy Yatsenyuk and others like the neo-Nazi svobodar (freedom) party, "Punch" founded by former boxer Vitali Klitchko and the new "Right Sector" ultra-nationalists with known international extremists and terrorists in high ranking positions. How did these parties come onto streets so well organized and with so much good PR? Well that's just some of the things five billion dollars in funding for the US "National endowment for Democracy" and an undisclosed amount from the EU can achieve. The protests turned ever more violent culminating in up to 100 deaths in just one day, shortly before the president fled the capital. At the front line of the protests were the ultra-nationalist, ultra-violent far right activists of "Right Sector" and "Svobodar". The most active of these violent groups was led by covert, Israeli military veterans as confirmed by Israeli papers Haaretz and Times of Israel. Strange bed-fellows indeed but when we see the Islamists radicals in Syria with Israeli weapons the picture starts to reveal itself.
This all makes Russian intervention in Crimea not only seem reasonable, but the only actions any competent government could take. The true under handedness of the situation becomes clear when it was revealed from a leaked phone call between US assistant Secretary for State Victoria Nuland and the US ambassador to Ukraine, in which, several weeks before its happens, Nuland clearly outlines what the US plans for regime change, emphasising the Banker Arseniy Yatsenyuk, must become Prime Minister. The conversation is mostly known for her "fuck the EU" remark, implying they didn't much care for the wishes of their co-conspirators in the coup plot.
In another leaked phone call the Estonian foreign minister clearly states that the snipers who killed dozens of protesters and 26 police officers, were hired by the "new coalition" suggesting they were agent provocateurs. One can only assume their intention was to spark greater outrage hastening Yanukoyvch's downfall. of course genuine grievances existed against the government in Ukraine which was blighted with corruption but, as we now know, this coup is blatantly backed by foreign sponsors manipulating the Ukrainian people.
With the Russian intervention, the potential for the armed, ethnic Russian groups in Crimea clashing with Ukrainian nationalists leading to conflagration and civil war has been diffused for now. However US Secretary of State John Kerry has given new heights to hypocrisy when he stated “You just don't in the 21st century behave in 19th century fashion by invading another country on completely trumped up pre-text,”. The people of Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, Syria and multiple others the US has covertly and overtly intervened militarily in in the last decade must think that it was some kind of sick joke. The attempts to make Russia a pariah state also seem laughable in the face of the horrendous war crimes committed the US ,UK and other western powers in pre-emptive and "humanitarian" wars.
So we have NATO, a tool of nation destroying hand in hand with IMF and EU also tools of destroying national sovereignty and self determination, moving in from the west and Russia, allegedly if tacitly, supported by it's Shanghai cooperation partner China coming from the east. One wonders if the powers that be are willing to revisit the mistake of August, 1914. Perhaps, and in my opinion and many others, it is not a mistake at all and a third world war is just the crisis they want in order to justify their one world government, in a New World Order.
