offsite link We Locked Down Because We Could. Thanks, Zoom Fri Jun 09, 2023 14:51 | Will Jones
A key factor driving the world to lockdown in 2020 was remote-working technology like Zoom that, for the first time, made extended periods of isolation economically viable, argues Prof Jay Bhattacharya.

Gripped by a culture of climate catastrophism, society seems hell-bent on ripping up the energy system that is the foundation of our civilisation with only the vaguest idea of what might replace it, says Andrew Montford.

Loud and lively protest at Irish hare coursing event!

category international | animal rights | opinion/analysis author Sunday October 18, 2015 15:31author by Ban hare coursing in Ireland Report this post to the editors

This weekend's two day live hare coursing event at Edenderry, Co. Offaly was the target of a lively and very loud (though non-violent) protest by campaigners against the cruel so-called "sport".

On October 17th, members and supporters of several animal protection groups gathered outside the hare coursing venue, which is located close to the Tesco and Lidl supermarkets in the town.

In addition to holding placards denouncing the animal cruelty that poses as "sport" in coursing, campaigners employed a new tactic...Megaphones and whistles were used to partially drown out the PA system operating inside the coursing venue.

Whenever an announcement was being made about the next pair of greyhounds to be unleashed in pursuit of a hare, the speakers outside would go into action. Have a look at the footage. It's heartening!
