LASC Event Following over a decade of left-leaning governments, the past 6 months have witnessed radical changes in the political status quo in Latin America. Beginning with the election of Right-candidate Mauricio Macri in Argentina, through the controversial removal of Dilma Rousseff in Brazil, to the upheaval in Venezuela and uncertainty in Ecuador, many are speculating that the era of leftist hegemony is coming to an end, and that rightist dominance is returning. This panel of scholars will reflect on the achievements and errors of the Left-wing governments, assess the challenges facing the Left across the region, particularly that emanating from the regional Right, and offer analysis of the Left's future as a social and political force.
