Portlaoise Gets Ready To "Make Poetry History" On Tuesday, May 2nd, at 8:30 pm, Kavanagh's pub in Portlaoise will hold what is believed to be the town's first night of a live performance of poetry; what makes this night unique is that all poems being performed are unpublished and have not been read to an audience before. By doing this, the poets in question intend to be making history regarding poetry in the Portlaoise area – not making history of poetry, as the title of the night might suggest. |

Anywhere?
or do we not engage fully with these issues. print the full list and then I suggest you invite a woman to recite.
Thank you. Chris
Sorry if any females are offended but the list of readers as published is the list that will be reading.
The night is a very small gig, organised by myself (although it wasn't very hard to do: just asked the bar owner if we could have his upstairs room on a quite night so that myself, one of my students (it's an all boys school: perhaps you could complain to the Board or Management about that), and also my post-graduate supervisor to read some poems to what will no doubt be a small audience).
If a future night is booked I, and I am sure David and Derek, have no problems with females poets reading.
