War hero Blair resigns

category international | anti-war / imperialism | opinion/analysis author Wednesday June 27, 2007 11:16author by paul o toole Report this post to the editors

And good riddance

Tony Blair leaves office to-day. He will hand in his notice to that other bastion of freedom and civility, the queen mother.
While he is being hailed the world over as a 'man of peace' by one and all in the west including our own Taoiseach, the irony couldn't be lost in GW Bush's statement to bid farewell to his friend and fellow war criminal. Bush says that Blair was not his poodle, that they both ...'were in the same foxhole fighting the war on terror'. ...
I cant help but point out that George w. Bush was never in a fox hole unless it was in his daddys ranch hunting because he served out his time as a member of the Texas Air National Guard to avoid the Viet-Nam war. And he even went AWOL for long stretches during that time.
When these men say they have been fighting you have to take stock of what that means to mothers and fathers who have lost loved ones due to these men doing what they call 'fighting'.
The only injury either of these men suffer is their credibility, but I think that their suffering in this respect is minimal at best, especially when you take stock of the thousands of graves these two men filled with their own soldiers and the people they sent them to kill, all in the name of democracy. And now Mr. Blair is going to take up a position on Middle-East issues. He is the Second most hated man in the Middle-East according to his colleague Clare Short, second only to his friend G.W.Bush.

Bliar, got elected on a wave of despairation (hope), ruled on a wave of rhetoric and leaves on a wave
of demoralisation, social democracy, don't you just love it.

I doubt it is 'sir' bob geldoff, for not only is 'our ' bobby one of Blairs finest and favourite jesters-sorry bono, your gw Bush's favourite,- he is also the diversion for all those so inclined to have any humanitarian feelings towards the suffering in Africa.
If bob wasnt there to help (deflect) us to become 'aware' while his friends are banking billions on Africas wealth, tony couldn't have continnued in power as he did....unless.... of course....bob got a concience at last...I doubt it!!
