Women's International Network of the World Association of Community Broadcasters organize 16 days of Activism

People are asked to contribute to the 16 days live broadcast by Radio Pirate-Woman, giving their own experiences and opinions as to how to end violence against women.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RADIO PIRATE-WOMAN (FM102) in conjunction with Women’s International Network of the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC-WIN) will be on the air every day (12 noon – 2 pm) from Sunday November 25th until Monday December 10th. We are inviting women to come to our kitchen-radio at 10 St Bridget’s Place Lower, Woodquay, Galway, to contribute on air, or listen. (Wheelchair access & children welcome under parental supervision.) After the broadcasts we will be showing unedited videos of Radio Pirate-Woman’s attendance at AMARC conferences in Jordan and Nepal, as well as recent and on-going campaigns for civil liberties and human rights – e.g. Shell to Sea, Asylum-seekers, etc.

This will be part of AMARC-WIN’s international Internet Campaign to highlight 16 days of activism against gender violence. This year, the theme of the broadcasts will be: “Demanding Implementation, Challenging Obstacles: End Violence against Women”.
The campaign will be broadcast at:
www.amarc.org/16days
Radio Pirate-Woman has only a three mile radius (with some black spots); so our broadcast will also be available on www.margarettadarcy.com

Community radio producers from Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Africa,

these 16 days to highlight the effort of women and men working to put an
end to gender violence. The programs featured will include
documentaries, interviews, debates, poetry, music and much more.

This multilingual podcast campaign mobilizes community radios around a
global issue and encourages them to use new communication technologies
such as the Internet to extend the reach of their voices.

Radio stations around the globe are invited to download the audio files
from the AMARC-WIN 16 days website and broadcast them in their radio
stations during the 16 days campaign which starts on November 25th and
end on December 10th.
