Justin Trudeau wants to prorogue Parliament to buy time before the election. Voters will punish him for it, says Prof James Allan, but it's a mistake he must be allowed to make without activist judges getting in the way.

Jordan Peterson should make his mind up about Christianity, critics say. Prof James Alexander disagrees: he's a profound Jungian explorer who wants to help a secularised world see why Christianity still matters.

Anyone record the debate on audio, that way we can all hear what was said. Do IAWM have audio recording equipment, any chance of improved collaboration between all groups to help diffusion of critical talks

Surely the debate is not wether or not the troops should pull out but rather why they are there in the first place. Then have the said debate.
Seems to me that having a debate on diverging opinions NOW , by default not hammering home the illegality of the invasoin/occupation in the first instance, allows the notion that it is a done deal and resolved.
I dont think in a philosophical debate, as this was, that first principles should be sacrificed, if they are, then its politics as usual and 'they' win ...not decisively but practically.
The invasion was illegal, and theres only one direction to head to. That is convictions. Nothing else will solve a single thing, or prevent further expansion.
Wether or not a group of activists agree or disagree in Dublin is irrelevant.
At least Shannon is a place where action / protest could be used tactically and practically. Meanwhile the Bush/Obama war on the Middle East is costing lives. The AfPak arrangement is a sick twist in Obamaland......

Michael,
Thanks for posting the pictures - you really do work fast. The meeting finished at 10.00 last night and the pics are up already.
As part of the IAWM I want to thank you and through Indymedia the 200 friends and comrades who thronged the room. The debate was lively, interesting, educational and politically constructive - also, as a number of people noted, very civilised given that so many diverse views were present onthe panel. And it was such an honour to have Sahar from RAWA in Afghanistan join us.
One small correction: On your very first picture above the man on the right is NOT Robert Faucher but the US lawyer Morgan Baker.......
Thanks again.
