Nobel Peace Prize winner faces another 18 months under house arrest Aung San Suu Kyi was arrested and charged with breach of the terms of house arrest in May 2009, just days before her current term of house arrest was due to end. The lengthy trial has now ended and the Nobel Peace Prize winner has been found guilty and sentenced to three years jail and hard labour. However, in a move surely aimed at avoiding international sanctions, Home Affairs minister General Maung Oo said outside the court that military ruler Than Shwe had signed a special order suspending the sentence and ordered that Suu Kyi should spend 18 months under house arrest. A totally disgraceful and unjust action. Good luck with the demos.
I'll see you there....
Injustice dosent come close enough to describing ASKs treatment. Hopefully I will see you there....
Dont forget to go over to our Dept. Of Forigen Affairs......they dont mind supporting Facist Dictators, Pre-emptive Invaders, Imperilaist Thugs, or anyone the US/UK say that they should support.
As our Government condemns this action in Burmah, they hypocritically lock up peace activists in our own country at every oppertunity who try to prevent the murder of innocent people. Exposing this hypocracy and political cowardice is paramount.
