I hope that the term 'Barbarians' as a title is not meant to be taken pejoratively in the sense that the Greeks and Romans used it to denigrate peoples that they actually integrated practices from. The civilisation that fits the dictionary definition of 'Barbarians' are the Romans , the so called purveyors of fine culture and high civilisation. Our ancient Irish ancestors may not have developed urban centres and yes they could be warlike but this doesn't mean to say that their culture wasn't sophisticated in other ways. I think that the whole notion of an island of barbarian savages being 'civilised' by Celtic invaders doesn't add up either , ditto the official story of the conversion to Christianity. I wonder what gems of knowledge and artifacts are secluded in the vaults of the Vatican never to be revealed to the mugs lest they realise the truth about their ancestors. I personally wouldn't mind being termed a descendant of a barbarian if it meant that I still had some wildness and a semblance of a connection to nature left in me.

The guy says "now i don't think the people in Ireland were Barbarians". It cant be simpler than that.

I said I hoped that the podcast didn't mean to depict the ancient Irish as being savages. If you say it doesn't I'll take your word for it and I'm glad that it doesn't. I can't listen to it at the moment but I will in due course.

It says, 'The first show Barbarians looks at the what Ireland was like 2000 years ago'

The first show is about looking at Ireland from the perspective of the Babarians.
