All around the world airports are being built and enlarged in countries which appear to realise the 'climate crisis' is just a load of nonsense. But not in poor, gullible Britain.

The local election results are as terrible for the Conservatives as feared and thanks to Reform they would have been lucky to have had only a 1997-style wipeout, says veteran pollster John Curtice.

World Day and World Week for the Abolition of Meat

World Day: January 29, 2011

World Week: January 24 to 30, 2011

Please join activists worldwide for the World Day and the World Week for the Abolition of Meat!

Given the success of the past World Days for the Abolition of Meat and given that the demand for the Abolition of Meat is of utmost importance, starting this year three World Weeks for the Abolition of Meat will be held on a yearly basis. They will take place in the final week of the months of January, May and September.

So far, various events (including awareness actions, street performances, speeches and protests) have been held in over 50 cities in the following countries: Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, England, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, South Africa, Switzerland and the USA.

Many thanks to all the individuals and animal rights groups that have raised their voices for the cause of oppressed animals and expressed the idea that our societies have to ban the killing of animals for food! It is really important for us to know that on the same day people in various places throughout the world are making the same political demand: we have to stop the mass murder of animals!

We believe it is high time to make a public demand for the abolition of meat by increasing the number of happenings both locally and internationally.

It is also high time to join our forces and make the suffering of animals as visible as possible and declare the goal that must be discussed publicly in our societies without any taboos: the abolition of breeding, hunting and fishing.

We are hoping for a larger number of activist events in more and more places as well as ever-growing determination, imagination and visibility.

Various events are being planned in France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the UK for the World Day and World Week for the Abolition of Meat.

Please join activists worldwide for the World Day and the World Week for the Abolition of Meat on January 24 to 30, 2011!

If you plan to organise actions to raise public awareness, please send your reports of events to contact(at)meat-abolition.org, and we'll publicize them on the website.

Please support the movement for the abolition of meat:

About the movement which started in France:
The issue of the abolition of meat was debated for the first time at the “Estivales de la question animale” ("Summer gathering around the question of the animal") in August 2005:
