We have forgotten the plight of the homeless yet are meant to be a modern European Society.

The last time I visited Bray (August) the issue was very evident.

Well done to these wonderful caring people from all walks of life who go out of their way to assist others less fortunate than
most , i happen to hail from Bray & i know that this is an opportunity to keep this topic at the core of society where it belongs ,
At least with honest to goodness people who know what they are speaking of in terms of self help and awareness please
God let them continue their great work which they have begun already , also people must learn to discuss exactly what is
going on behind their painted smile , open up to somebody close by attending this meeting of the minds and let them guide
you one step at a time . See you on the 15th February 2011 .

This meeting should set a precedent for other groups who are rightly concerned about the well
being of our citizens who are obviously going through harder than hard times, Father Peter is a
living legend where it involves homeless youths and is one decent human being, we should all
support these situations when ever we possibly can... I hope to travel to Bray with my partner
on the date mentioned and we are both looking forward to the evening , i know of Wayne , who
is also involved with this group , he has stood for local elections in his home town and is a good
decent individual who works tirelessly for good causes, without fear or favour.

Thank you for your comments Petra, and Sceptic-we are aware of the support that came from the Dublin area in helping us raise this serious issue last year.

The organisers of this meeting are trying to get votes for their general election campaign and have deliberately organised it to coinside with a forum for candidates by the camber of commerce in Arklow. Chambers Ireland also organises community events. When we get business moving then we will get to homelessness but not untill we get the county right first.

as long as the election hopefuls promise to address Homelessness & Suicide problems amongst
their constituents as a matter of concern , which it rightly is , then why should it be an issue ,
It seems to me at least every time anyone tries to take these social issues to the public arena
they are critisised for their troubles , i say let them alone to go their own route as long as they
dont renege on their promises to address the above. Remember, its results that count at the end
of the day , the people who are due to attend this meeting, as above , are of good stock and are
also of impeccible character .

Wicklow Against Suicide is not running any candidate in this election nor are any of its 56 group members running or are they linked to any campaign of the 24 candidates in Wicklow. If there is a meeting in Arklow on the same night-it is up to candidates to decide what meeting is more important. Politics is all about tough decisions. Adele

people as this is a very worthy cause for support .

Drugs of all types , and i mean all types are destroying our young and not so young people ,
as well as alcoholic laden products these types of ' highs ' are destroying the very backbone
of society today , i know it's dark days we're going through but we have been through worse
before and have survived , instead of forever knocking our very existence we should look after
our mental & physical health as a matter of priority .
Switch off the television and go through the withdrawl symptoms , it can be done , read a few
books to stave off depression and dont overload your head with hundreds of facts and features
which , basically , are not worth carrying around with us at all . Try walking on a regular basis
and learn something about the area ( s ) we live in . & Smile , when is the last time You Smiled?

I must agree. I thought was I was suicidal (and at the same time happily married), I abused alcohol and tried to overdose on anti-depressants. It was no magic trick or religious conversion I just decided I had to stop and I did. A great help to me was being given a gundog (as a pet) and having to take him on long walks around the beautiful lakes of this country, getting away from TV and radio etc, the playful antics and unconditional love and obedience of that spaniel gave me the inspiration and a new outlook on life! I hope this helps someone.

Thanks for letting your many dependents know the meeting has been cancelled , it would have
been a terrible disappointment had i shown up @ The Royal Hotel , Bray , Co. Wicklow & found
out when it was too late , means a lot , keep us posted of any upcoming events if you can .

Perhaps 'the powers that be' in Bray didn't want it going ahead. I will telephone the Royal Hotel tomorrow and post their explaination here for the people of Ireland to see. I'm sure the local business owners and town council will be equally dissapointed as their attendance had been eagerly awaited.

As i said in earlier comments , anybody who attempts to raise this volatoile subject of Suicide
seems to be met with steadfastness by shhhhh i dont know who .

As for the subject of homelessness amongst our people , well the little operators of our drop in
centres , along with the , ahem , councellors , would end up on the streets themselves , of
course the powers that be do not want you and i to know that little x factor , should there be
no homelessnes then there would be no ' emergancy services ' available .

WOT about the 93 ,000 available properties then ?

oh i forgot , they're being closely guarded by s-e-c-u-r-i-t-y personell & N.A.M.A.
