RNU Protest Against Royal Visit

category dublin | anti-capitalism | press release author Sunday May 08, 2011 01:01author by Republican Network for Unity - Republican Network For Unity Report this post to the editors

The republican Network for Unity would like to thank the high spirited republican activists who joined together today in protest outside the GPO in Dublin and in defiance of Special Branch intimidation, vented their anger and frustration and highlighted the unjustifiable upcoming visit to Ireland by the imperialist, Elizabeth Windsor.
php52a0yepm.jpg

Over 50 republicans took part in today’s demonstration and many leaflets were handed out to the public by our activists, highlighting the gargantuan sum of money being spent to facilitate the British head of State while our hospitals and communities continue to be neglected.

RNU will continue to expose the deceitfulness of the Irish State as they facilitate an unwanted costly visit by a British Royal and vow to continue with future campaigns against this despicable visit.

Statement ends.

says it all. Sums up the respect of these lads for what was briefly no longer an offshore province.

The blowback may take time, but it seldom fails. I suppose they'll leave us the semblance of home rule we think we have.

if you're pre-rational or post rational.

crawler is your word.

that monarchical system is currently dropping bombs all round the show in the name of its version of democracy. And they put the boots on the ground up north to protect the sectarian fascist orange 'democracy' they installed in the first place. If we got a democracy that produced the policies our democrats put to the electorate at their elections the apache choppers would be in in a flash. wake up.

monarchy may be your future, it wont be mine till I get the crown.

Its precisely this refusal to accept complexity that drives reactionary violence. Labelling all who object to this infantile collective drooling as terrorists is a recipe for return to trenches. Or do you think 1950's stormont was democratic?

author by ALpublication date Thu May 19, 2011 16:49author address author phone Report this post to the editors

Opus your response is just more of the same old rethoric. Because this country welcomes the head of state of another country (a country that accepts the monarchical system) does not mean that we are crawlers or any other words you may use. We are a country proud of our history and can stand up with pride amongst the nations of the world.

To crib and moan about the Queen this and the Queen that shows an inherent lack of self confidence and indeed a pathetic petty mindedness and an unwillingness to move this country on into the future.

Any problems this country has at the moment is homegrown., financial, political etc.

Comments about ironing the sash are also pathetic and to be honest expected. It appears if someone disagrees with points of view such as your own they are "Orange men" or Loyalists.

Deal with the issues here at home and then we can talk all those other nations,

I still maintain that the anti visit campaign lack support, or else we would have seen thousands on the streets.

Tell us there is mass SUPPORT for this anachronistic throwback to an ancien regime well past its dump-date.
Tell us again its US who are backward not to welcome the return of monarchical worship at the outset of the TWENTY-FIRST century.
And tell us we are happy as our social system is stripped to pay for the fraud of her midgesty's class buddies who are extending THEIR orchestrated welcome at OUR expense.

That accounts for the ENORMOUS crowds flocking across the country to join the infantile gaga-fest(apologies to GaGa for the invidious comparison).

And her mumbled REGRETS at the TURBULENCE between our 'friendly' isles, even as her government continues the same barbarities in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya, Palestine and ,coming soon, Syria, Iran, Venezuela, and the various semi-autonomous nations trying to use THEIR resources for THEIR populations.

Keep your sash pressed.

I have no objection if she wants to visit as a private individual at her own expense and deliver her regrets. My objection is to the idiots proving we are a nation of stage-struck gombeens who will fall to our knees for approval before any polished icon, however hollow.
Particularly when the WE consists of a minority of lockstepped career-pundits who will cheer whatever their ad-revenue-hungry well-whipped editorial managers demand at the drop of a free luncheon voucher and the narcissistic desire to tell their grandkids they were there on de grate day.
A morsel of honesty and BALANCE might help.

Taken from the lead article,

RNU will continue to expose the deceitfulness of the Irish State as they facilitate an unwanted costly visit by a British Royal and vow to continue with future campaigns against this despicable visit.

Only "50" protesters turned up for this event, proportionatly speaking they represent a miniscule part of the population, so can the term "unwanted" visit be freely used in the manner that it has been in the article.

Unwanted by wo or how many, perhaps the phrase should be WE dont want the visit, I have no problem with their protest the have a right to do so and I would defend that right, but any such protesters should quanitify there slogans and speak for themselves.

It would appear that there is NOT mass opposition to the visit of the Queen to Ireland.

RTE estimated the costs of security for the two visits at 30 million euro so we were actually underestimating it. And thats just for security alone.
It's probably even more.

We have to recoup all of that first before we make a penny on this famous tourism boost we hear so much about. Thats just PR Nonsense I think personally. Mary Mcaleese was a totally crap president, subservient to FF and IBEQ interests and she caps it off with this expensive debacle in the throes of an acute recession.

Streets full of hundreds of police pulling down posters and knocking on doors
Movement bans on Irish citizens in their own capital

And we pay for our own repression of civil liberties. Nice system. Isn't democracy wonderful?
Perhaps, but I've never really seen it.

A sentence that contains phrases like 'this country will do very well' out of the royal visit displays exactly the sort of airheaded, incoherent

thinking that preceeded the arrival of Shell in Erris. It was going to be 'great for the area;, etc. But nobody stopped to quantify

exactly what that meant. We now know it meant a few temporary jobs for a few locals, most of whom, are now on the dole or emigrated,

many with a nasty taste in their mouths because, in their own words, they were 'treated like shit'. The long-term impact, however, will be

a shatterred community, enmities between former friends that will last to the grave, and an ongoing threat to a pristine environment. I

would invite john 7 to come on here with some meaningful figures to quantify exactly what sort of bonanza we can expect from this very ill-

advised visit.. I doubt if he, or anyone else can even point to a situation where the bill for the extensive security measures will ever be

covered, never mind how this is going to enrich the country. People the world over know that Ireland is a nice place. They also know it's

overpriced and that it rains here every second day. When they make the decision whether or not to come to Ireland it won't be because

we've had a visit from an international laughinq stock who's married to a clown. I hope that this passes of peacefully for one reason

only - our emigrant poulation living quietly in England. God knows what they'll go through if anything goes wrong. Mary Macaleese is a

fool to have done this at this point in our history. And she didn't even get invited to the wedding after all.

...this country will do very well...'.

Nope. A section of the economic elites will benefit, and any extra will be siphoned off the feed the loan-shark bondholders, who most likely include Mrs City of London Windsor.

This tourist solution to our situation is a blue herring that a moments reflection will show is just cosmetic bullshite from the same stable as that Keltik Tiger rararara they fed the media and masses to give an impression of prosperity when all thats been happening is the propertied classes have expanded their stake in 'this country'. Think about it. No hotel worker ran any of the property cartels, and most hotel bosses wont pay a wage will sustain, even for well qualified personnel. Chefs are on minimum wages and getting cut and called for belt-tightening, by the same squad have stashed the tiger loot offshore, or dumped their debts on the wage-earners.
And while judges and top civil servants being cut threatens 'constsitutional action', they slash away with abandon at the disemployed, low-paid and disabled without qualm. And its only starting.

Its only our fucking country if sacrafice is required. Otherwise they wont give an acre, despite all the wasted and idle or underutilised land, to feed a family, or even bury your fucking dead without a surcharge. A man size box for disposal and a final dig-in runs to several grand. The only time these hominid parasites masquerading in symbiotic human fleece will accept your citizenship is if you come back from your emigration with a sack of money to invest in their pet projects. Then they'll be queuing to bury you in honorary PhDs. Oscail do shuile.

This is exactly the kind of thing we expect from so called "republican" groups. It has already been publicised many times that the security is costing 30million. Both state visits next week will be broadcast right around the world and Toursim Ireland have mounted a huge information campaign across the UK and USA. If these visits go well, this country will do very well from tourism as a result of the media coverage of the visits. But, we need to show off our beautiful country at its very best. We dont need to have either visit disrupted by a group of individuals who are still rattling on about "800 years of oppression". Its time to move on and welcome foreign dignatories to our shores. We cant live in the past forever.

I think P.J. stone estimated that the gardai alone will need 25million extra to cover security.

That doesn't include wining and dining on the finest sweetmeats entertainment, transport and putting them up in plush accomodations.

Bah!

Good to see these continuing protests by different groups and shame on those organisations that are not taking part. It would be a good idea to get some of the TDs to ask the appropriate Ministers in the Dáil just how much is being spent on security for Windsor and Obama to date and what the project total expenditure is also.
