From our tentative start some months back, we are now riding the crest of a wave of goodwill; from the city's Community Wardens who no longer harrass us, to the plethora of shops who, in empathy, donate not unsubstantial amounts of food to us every Saturday evening. read full story / add a comment

India so far has escaped the interest of Burmese democracy protesters in Europe & Ireland. Faced with the long list of anonymous corporations and short list of major foreign state players, it was understandable that many on the Burma Action front chose to launch all their energies & petitions & info-campaigns at China. India has now confirmed it is close to signing a deal with the Myanmar military junta to develop the port of Sittwe. The deal will see India invest $103m in the Myanmar regime just weeks since during the crises and collection of signatures to lobby against China, India signed a deal for Hydrocarbon exploitation with Myanmar. read full story / add a comment

This week marks the twentieth anniversery of a man murdered to protect a high ranking British agent within the Provisional IRA. It also sees the seventh anniversery of his grandson who himself was murdered only yards away. Yet the ability to commemorate either of these republicans has been made impossible by a criminal gang operating within the Ballymurphy area. How could this happen in 'republican' west Belfast? read full story / add a comment |
