Notes from the #SpanishRevolution and #acampadaBCN @ Barcelona.

Next Tuesday, like every tuesday is the open assembly for DRY-Dublin. On the 12th from 7 till 7.30 there will be a short presentation about what has been going on in the streets of Barcelona over the last 2 monhs, from the occupation of Placa Catalunya, to extreme violence from the police, to amazing growth of bottom up grassroots movement, to the parliament being blocked peacfully and the government having to be flown in by helicopter, to a quarter million marching through the streets of the city all demanding "Real Democracy Now!!!"

We are the Irish movement for peaceful action to demand Real Democracy Now! Inspired by the Spanish revolution and Democracia Real Ya!

We are ordinary people. We are like you. We are citizens of different ages, nationalities and social backgrounds. We get up every morning to study, to look after our homes, to go to work, or to look for work. We all work hard every day at building a better future for ourselves and for the people around us. But all of us are worried and angry about what is unfolding, politically and economically, in our society.

We want real democracy now! Not the pretense of democracy that presently exists in Ireland. The present system silences the voices of those who want a meaningful role in shaping our society and concentrates power in the hands of a minority. Our political system does not represent us but instead administers on behalf of unaccountable elites. It is time for us all to start a movement for a better society.

Our manifesto is still under discussion. Have your say here.

Together we can create a new reality. A better world.

Lets unite to defeat the IMF/EU/ECB/FG/LAB!

Everyone who can please come out and show displeasure with how the most vulnerable are being scapegoated

A youth demo against the austerity of the ECB/IMF has been called by numerous left activists. The IMF are an unelected body responsible for forcing through huge cutbacks in order to pay off the debts of wealthy financiers. The prescription of the IMF is shamelessly being pushed by Labour & Fine Gael who are both complicit in administering the most viscous austerity seen in decades.

Attacks on the youth are particularly evident, from cuts in supports for disabled children, to a hike in the collage registration fee (which will push students from poorer backgrounds out of education).

Hundreds of thousands are out on the streets in Greece/Spain in a bid to topple their IMF led puppet governments. It falls to us in ireland to join with protests across Europe & resist the IMF & their administrators in Labour/Fine Gael. Join the protest at 1pm, Tue 12 July at the Central Bank Plaza to help build the movement against the IMFs agenda. All welcome!
