Authoritarian government always suppresses free speech, but the worst part is that the public joins in, says Sallust, as he sees lessons in the 1939 writings of Nora Waln, who saw the iron fist coming down before her eyes.

Voltaire, International Newsletter is a weekly newsletter on international politics. It features 10 to 15 pages of contextualized, sourced news items. Its aim is to enable you to follow the decline of the unipolar world and the emergence of a multipolar system. The newsletter is published in several languages. Several foreign ministries from different countries have already subscribed. However, it presents a view of the world so different from that of the subsidized press that, in (...)

Former negotiator of the nuclear agreement (JCPoA) and new Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi presented the international orientations of the government of President Massoud Pezeshkian on state television. Iran will continue its support for the "Resistance Axis" (i.e., all pro-Iranian Shiite groups in the Middle East) and Syria. It will pursue its partnerships with China and Russia. However, it will be more open to compromise with all the powers that wish to do so, especially with the (...)

The presidential election in Venezuela was yet another opportunity for the West to destabilise the country. The international press consciously presented a totally false version of events in order to discredit President Nicolás Maduro and support his main challenger, Edmundo González.

On July 23, in the presence of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, representatives of Hamas and Fatah signed the Joint Beijing Declaration, marking their reconciliation. However, a few days later, Israel assassinated Hamas' negotiator in Tehran Ismail Haniyeh. Wang then called his Iranian counterpart, Ali Bagheri. He offered his support and recognized Iran's right to defend its sovereignty. The last diplomatic contacts between China and Israel date back to the phone conversation of the two (...)

The reception of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by a joint session of the U.S. Congress is not just an operation against President Joe Biden, it is also an endorsement of Israel's parliamentary majority in its continuation of the massacre in Gaza. What's more, given Netanyahu's insistence on going to war against Hezbollah, involving Iran and bringing in the United States, this will be one more step in his strategy to atomize Persia.

Events follow on from one another, but we don't really understand them. The United States has nothing against Lebanon, even if it does not like Hezbollah. However, they will support Israel if Tel Aviv engages in a war. They then risk putting their finger in a fateful gear. Hezbollah being militarily superior to Israel, they will be forced to come and crush it. Iran will defend Lebanon; and the United States, which is currently negotiating with Tehran in secret, will find itself at war with (...)
Alfredo Jalife-Rahme - Thu Jun 27, 2024 12:09
The threat of Israeli aggression against Lebanon grows stronger every day. Yet there is no doubt that Hezbollah has far greater conventional resources than Israel. Hence the hypothesis that Tel Aviv could use tactical atomic bombs, such as those already tested during the Saudi war against Yemen. Numerous Israeli and American personalities have mentioned this possibility. By insisting that Washington would support Israel in the event of an all-out war against Lebanon, US officials made it possible. Westerners present in the country are being asked by their embassies to leave immediately.
Thierry Meyssan - Tue Jun 25, 2024 06:59
Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, with a majority in the Knesset but a large minority among his fellow citizens, is threatening to attack Lebanon. If this operation is launched, the Israeli army will not be able to defeat Hezbollah on its own. To save the Hebrew state, the United States will be forced to intervene, but rather than participate directly in a horrific war, it will support a military coup in Tel Aviv.
