Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood's asylum 'crackdown' is not nearly enough to stop the flow, says Juliet Samuel in the Times. It still leaves Britain looking like a utopia for far too many.

Germany is headed towards a pension apocalypse driven by demographic decline. Instead of preparing for this, generations of political leaders have bankrupted the country with hysterias of CO2 and viruses, says Eugyppius.

TRALEE: Household Charges Meeting with JOE HIGGINS TD

category kerry | miscellaneous | event notice author Wednesday February 29, 2012 13:17author by Kieran - Kerry Campaign against Household Charges Report this post to the editors

The anti-household charges campaign in Kerry continues with a Public Meeting in Tralee, *North Kerry*

Speakers are Joe Higgins TD and Councillor Brid Smith

Venue: Grand Hotel, Tralee (in the ballroom)
Date: Thursday 1st March @ 8PM

In order to pay this tax, the government expects everyone to go online and register to pay it. The simple way of resisting the tax is to refuse to register and refuse to pay. If everyone together refuses to register and pay, the government will find it almost impossible to impose this tax on us.

Despite attempts at media spin regarding the numbers who have registered less 120,000 households had registered so far (as of Saturday 25th February). To put that figure into context: the government want 1.8 million households to register.

Not one cent from the household tax will be used to improve county council services. Not one cent will be used to improve services such as health and education. The money will be used to bail out the bankers and the speculators. For three years now Fianna Fail, The Green Party, Fine Gael and Labour have been making us foot the bill for the crimes of bankers and speculators.

This is a great opportunity to strike back and start the job of reversing the tide.
This is our chance to take a stand and show our opposition to austerity policies.
Let’s make sure we use it!
