Seomra Spraoi, 10 Belvidere Court, Dublin 1. Doors offically open from 6pm
to 11pm (may go a little later if mood is good and volunteers have enough
energy) no door charge
We hope to gather in Seomra Spraoi to share beo, sceal, craic agus ceol
(food, stories, fun/laughs/mischief and music).
The main aim of the event is to raise awareness of the issues around
health&safety and environmental desecreation, which have been troubling
the good people of Erris and dividing the communities of the 'Rossport
area' for over a decade now, in the hope of inspiring people to think
about the different ways that solidarity can be offered. Music: two guys, two mics, two guitars & a fiddle with some blueszy jazzy
type stuff going on
two amazingly happy inspiring unique individuals who can be difficult to
tell apart to the untrained eye sharing their lovely singing voices strong
possibility of guest performances
Food: Free for all, all donations warmly accepted, cooking for aprox 60
people, served from 6:30ish til it runs out. Two good folk from 'Veg-Out'
,a catering collective from Cork, who do regular events to support worthy
causes with tasty food and by raising funds, are travelling up especially
for the event (and to visit the seomra spraoi cafe for first time :-)
Spoken word & stories: a few folk who have spent a lot of time in the
Erris area over the past few years have offered to share words and stories
from the 'stage' and around the dinner tables...
We hope to have a solidarity box, into which people can place letters of
support with offers of solidarity. This could mean simple offers of good
wishes or a specific offering of skills you can share if wanted, ranging
from sharing legal knowledge/advice and media skills/access to practical
skills and event organising to conflict resolution and holistic healing
practices. Gifts of any thing you feel might be appreciated such as
artwork, specific books or financial donations, may also be given along
with an indication of who/where you would like them to go to.
It's set to be a really enjoyable and powerful night for all who can make it.
