Shell Ireland have announced that they are to carry out more seismic surveying of the offshore pipeline which is supposed to carry raw gas from the sea bed to their valve at the landfall. The survey is scheduled to take place from June 1st 2012 and although they are vague about how liong it will take, they say the survey should be completed by the end of September. If there are protests, it might not be completed at all. Why are they surveying their pipeline? What information are they hoping to gather, and what do they need? Will the seismic work have an effect on fish and other fauna? |

Jump To Comment: 1 2 3The survey is of the Corrib field reservoir and it's surrounds. Quite normal to improve understanding of the reservoir and the geology around it. It is NOT a survey of the pipeline. You would not use seismic techniques to survey a pipeline. Quite simple really and the map on the Marine Notice clearly shows the survey area.
........there was a bit of a seismic event in a local hotel late one night last week. Funny how it never becomes an issue when a gang of
Shell boys decide to smash up a local property, but if a few protesters as much as lean against a Shell fence in Aughoose it's enough for
Alan Shatter to get excited about so he can justify his Gardai living it up on the Golden Mile. And on the subject of the wrecked hotel, why
weren't the Guards called when the place was being smashed to bits?
"Quite normal to improve understanding of the reservoir and the geology around it and to needlessly disturb and damage local marine life without any need for permission, wherever and whenever we like because we're shell and we don't give a shit about you paddies and your environment. Get used to it. We OWN your fucking government and they do what we say."
There, fixed that for you...
