Sacrificing Children?s Needs for Those of Adults was Devastating and Must Never Happen Again Wed Jul 06, 2022 14:21 | Molly Kingsley and Liz Cole
In crisis, we chose to invert our public health paradigm by requiring the young to sacrifice their own health and wellbeing to safeguard that of adults. In doing so, we shattered our implicit social contract.

The New Bill of Rights is Another Example of Boris?s Lack of Backbone Wed Jul 06, 2022 10:30 | James Allan
The new Bill of Rights is a disappointment. It won't rein in the judges, just empower British ones at the expense of European ones. It does little about the undermining of parliamentary sovereignty by the lawyerly caste.

If Irish indymedia closed down tomorrow, hardly anyone in Ireland would give a shit.
They seem to be completely happy swallowing everything state media tells them.
it's all corporate facebook, RTE, P.ie, Irish times.
The whole idea of an independent media seems lost on them as they sleepwalk through an orchestrated neo liberal attack on their society.
Greek language articles should now be encouraged here.
I hope the greeks make full use of this site since they no longer have one of their own, and the Irish don't appreciate the resource.
Here is a very good blog from Greece
http://www.greekcrisis.org/
To indyfan,
I agree, we don't utilise it. I'm an anarchist myself, and I'm excluded from so much (passing) information because everyone assumes everyone else uses facebook. So most of my anarchist friends/comrades are also on facebook. As far as I'm concerned, any serious revolutionary will not use it. We're nearly at the point where using it could be considered police cooperation, or worse yet, police collaboration.
Just a decade ago, the police in the US used to spend hundreds of man-hours hunting, and sending thousands of subpoenas to force information from individuals/activists/revolutionaries, now these people hand over all their connections; links, friends, family, and expose their location and continually update their political activism, completely publicly, why?
Go on the Greeks.. go on the Greek anarchists!
Indymedia’s model of a collectively organized, anti-capitalist , global, grass roots news site was first advanced in 1999 by anti- globalization protesters during the Seattle mass anti-WTO protests that year . Its rapid growth could only have been seen as a real threat to corporate control of the media – particularly after the role indymedia played in organizing the 2003 mass anti-war demonstrations . Facebook is the individualistic capitalist alternative to a collectively organized media .Who needs an old-fashioned 1999 collective model when Facebook allows everybody to be his/her own editor, economics pundit ,recipe writer, censor- in-chief, industrial correspondent, canine horoscopist etc. ?
As I understand it , there are plans to hold a seminar session dedicated to the need for a revival of Indymedia at the Dublin Alternative G8 being held in June.
