Dun Laoghaire Rathdown (DLR) is facing a housing crisis. As international financial vulture funds descend on Dublin and are forcing up the property prices again as they seek to get a return on their billions because bank interest rates are so low, this has resulted in rents rising where they are now highest in the country. The result has been that now thousands of families are unable to afford the rents as they are being forced up by landlords. In DLR there are over 4,000 families on the housing waiting list. The national figure is 90,000.
