There are now at least 1,880 children living in emergency accommodation, rents are escalating beyond affordable levels, there are ‘economic’ evictions, mortgage arrears, repossessions, 100,000 households on the housing waiting lists, substandard accommodation and the growing numbers of those unable to buy a home.
We are calling on all people affected to come together in a united show of solidarity to demand action to address the housing and homeless crisis as a matter of urgency. “While families are flooding into homelessness, government ministers are bickering, arguing with each other and disagreeing with one another. It’s an absolute disgrace. We have a crisis. It’s beyond crisis. We have an emergency,” Peter McVerry, Housing Campaigner
HOUSING IS A HUMAN RIGHT
