Go back.

Think before Catholic emacipation.
Think Cromwell "Nits make Lice"
Think Drogheda burnt to the ground and raped
Think Mountjoy in Cork
Think pitch-cappings in Wicklow in 1798 (Burning lighted tar put on exposed scalp)

Go recent:
Housing
Gerrymandering
Shoot to Kill
Pat Finucane

The first bombings were loyalist. The IRA didn't exist at the start of the troubles as they do now.

The organisation grew for a reason.

Start at the loyalist pogroms in Belfast.

Wake up and realise that provo-bashing is blinkered. The route lies historically in invasion, recently in misgovernece.

Pity the IRA didn't try peace first. It's a surreal world when you expect plaudits for stopping terrorism and trying peaceful means as an alternative strategy. Particulary as most of the war was waged against innocent civilians and not the crown forces. When the provos did come up against armed soldiers they squealed like stuck pigs and screamed for the european court of human rights.
They were much more at home dishing it out to the likes of Jean McConville.

It seems that Sinn Fein and the IRA are being a bit too quick to pat themselves on the back. All we have gotten so far is a long overdue statement and now they expect everyone else to tow their line. Let's see some real results first. The question isn't about wether or not people want a united Ireland it's about the constant oppurtunism of Sinn Fein. The majority of Irish people have been committed to peace since 1922. Welcome on board lads. As someone originally from meath I am quite familiar with their organisation and tactics in this area. The people they generally draw support from in the area seem to be hard headed reactionaries rather than social reformers. Perhaps SF should stop preaching to us for a while and try to repair some of the damage they have done.

Yes "pissed off", you are the only one. The rest of us appreciate the efforts of the IRA to drive out the occupation forces of the british crown, and failing that using peaceful means as an alternative strategy. Is that too much for you to grasp?

Am I the only one in the country who is pissed off listening to people congratulating the IRA for finally announcing that it's not going to butcher anyone anymore. As for their contribution to the "Peace Process "!!!!! Give us a break!
