Superintendent John "Johhny Sack" Gilligan

Questions arise about Superindent

People in Erris and around the world are puzzled by the resemblance of the new Garda Superintendent in Belmullet with "Johnny Sack" Sacramoni from the Sopranos Television programme.

Locals have speculated that the two may be related, or even whether the actor Vince Curatola has been hired by Mayo Gardaí to portray a heavy-handed police officer. Recent gangster tactics seen in Erris may indicate that the actor has taken his role too far.

Some people have even phoned phoned late at night to Belmullet Garda station 097-81038 or
097-81206) to ask for "Johnny Sack" or "Vince" to see what happens.

If you do this, make sure to record what happens and remember to leave a comment here...

I get this now- it's a sly reference to Johnny Sac as in

Johnny SAC- Special Area of Conservation.

Our brave super wanted to let Shell drill holes in one- hence the name Johnny SAC Gilligan.

Is that right? Sometimes it takes a while for the penny to drop.

Great video, great protest.
Since RPS are looking like fools does the RPS Rep. qualify as the original dumb blonde?

I think he actually looks a bit like the police chief in the Russian Film "My Friend Ivan Lapshin".

Great film, pity it never gets shown and isn't available on dvd.

It involves the story of a police officer who is stationed in a fairly wild rural area, who has to deal with a band of merciless robbers, while keeping an eye on the corrupt government, both local and in the capital.

Of course, in the film he roots out the robbers to protect the people, rather than helping them, but that was Stalin's Russia, and this is Bertie Ahern's Ireland...
