Alexander Litvinenko was poisoned by agents of the Russian Government and died a year ago on November 23rd 2006.

Alexander Litvinenko was a lieutenant-colonel in the Russian Secret Service. He fought in the first war in Chechnya before being appointed to the KGB/FSB. Sasha was at one time put in charge of protecting Russian billionaire Boris Berezovsky. In November 1998, he publicly accused his superiors of ordering the assassination of Berezovsky.

He campaigned on behalf of the Russian and Chechen people and repeatedly exposed government corruption. He revealed how the FSB and Putin were responsible for the Moscow Apartment bombings used as excuse for the second Russian terrorist attack on the Chechen people and many other terrorist activities including the murder of journalist Anna Politkovskaya. He was illegally imprisoned and threaths were made to kill him or his son.

After fleeing to Britain with his family he died, aged 44, in University College Hospital, London on November 23rd 2006. It was found that he had been poisoned with radioactive polonium-210, which was traced back to Russia.

Sasha converted to Islam before his death and a funeral reading was given at the Central London mosque. His friend Ahmed Zakayev, Chechin Prime Minister in exile, attended along with other Muslim clerics. He was buried in Highgate Cemetery, London but before his death he expressed his wish to be reburied among the Chechen people he loved.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilahi raji’un.

Litvinenko was not a "spy". He had no access to state secrets. He was paid by the FSB to tout on organised criminal gangs.

In his later years he became very cosy with Chechen Islamists - who were known to have stolen radioactive materials from Russian nuclear plants.

Just before his death he told a British journalist he was planning to blackmail a number of very rich and very powerful people.

It shows a remarkable lack of imagination on the part of westerners to assume Putin was involved.

The Pretence that Putin gives a damn about the Russian people is a joke.

Lugovoi is a former employee of the Corrupt oligarchs Boris Berezovsky and Badri Patarkashvili.

Incidentally GW Bush's brother Neil is a business partner of Berezovsky, who also has close ties to US neocons

The pretence that these people give a damn about Russian democracy is laughable

This former KGB agent is now a possible future Russian PM. There is overwhelming proof he poisoned Sasha but Putin refuses to extradite him to face the music.

There is no material evidence that the Russian government had anything to do with death of Litvinenko. The main suspect Lugovoi, is a former employee of Berezovsky, the legendary corupt oligarch who profited from manipulating alcoholic Yeltsin.

The problems in Chechnya happened because of vicious wahabi ideology imported from Taliban and Saudi Arabia with the help of America. This led to Beslan.

Remember America still boasts of using this ideology to defeat the Soviets in Afghanistan.

If Russia defeated in Chechnya, America would lay hands on Caspian and Caucasian oil and pipelines.

Chechens were manipulated by the U.S.,Saudis and Pakistanis which brought disaster on them
