Justin Trudeau wants to prorogue Parliament to buy time before the election. Voters will punish him for it, says Prof James Allan, but it's a mistake he must be allowed to make without activist judges getting in the way.

Jordan Peterson should make his mind up about Christianity, critics say. Prof James Alexander disagrees: he's a profound Jungian explorer who wants to help a secularised world see why Christianity still matters.

Aminatou Haidar hunger-strikes.

category international | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Wednesday December 09, 2009 10:44author by UD Report this post to the editors

When is Spain gonna get off the Pot?

Aminatou Haidar is now three weeks drinking sugar-water at Lanzarote airport because her
papers were stolen by Morocco. The Spanish government has little to say on the issue of
a Peace-activist and Nobel recommended woman dying on their doorstep and Morocco
presses ahead with whatever attracts them in the Western Sahara.

Aminatou in Lanzarote.
Aminatou in Lanzarote.

Interesting that the Beeb reports today that parts of the Sahara are now the biggest drug routes,
bit like the old silk-routes but with bells on.

So whats up with Zapatero in this situation : http://allafrica.com/stories/200912020943.html

The story is only really been covered via the Beeb in our part of the world as the Irish Times
(paper of note) tends toward buying Reuters mulch and cultivating Iona institute weirdos,
whilst Ms Kennedy babbles about the Internet threat : http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/ireland/2009/1127/1....html

Both Zapatero and The EU seem blithley to ignore the political implications of the Western saharan
problem, hopefully it will not take another woman's death to highlight geo-political issues (like
Politkovskaya and others).

Interestingly it usually does take a small death to highlight deep remiss and inequality, cos no-one
has the bollix to deal with unfolding situations :
