Jump To Comment: 1 2 3Once again the poorest in society are made to pay for the casino antics of the wealthy elites, oh the beauty of Capitalism, however if one is to fight against this orchestrated programme of cuts, one must begin at the beginning. The attack on the ordinary workers and unemployed of this country has been orchestrated by the elites of industry, aided and abetted by their mouthpieces in RTE, and their buddies in the media generally. I dont know if many are aware of "agenda setting theory", it is a concept used in sociological research which measures the influence of the media in setting the public agenda , now cast your minds back to the start of 2009, first on the agenda , the workers in the public service : result :pension levy and public sector pay cuts, next on the agenda, the unemployed : (note here, the Prime Time special on social welfare fraud aired the night before the budget, the Prime Time special on the Bankers aired after the budget, its all in the timing! Who decided on that strategy???) Result: Cuts in social welfare rates and community schemes etc , now on the agenda "THE MINIMUM WAGE" , IS IT NOT TIME PEOPLE BEGAN TO QUESTION WHO IS SETTING THE AGENDA??????, is it Pat Kenny? Joe Duffy? The Irish Independent?? WHO ARE THEIR MASTERS?? .Begin the fight back, all trade unionists and unemployed etc , boycott the Irish Independent, Union Leaders should refuse to take part in all RTE PROGRAMMES that help set the anti worker agenda , there are plenty of other ways for the unions to get their point across, lets knock down the house of cards that supports the agenda setting machinary, start at the beginning!!!
Hi Rita !
In late November 2009 , John Curran told a delegation of protestors representing CDP , JI and CE workers that he doubted if the threatened Community Sector cuts "will affect the proper functioning of the programmes involved..." : in early December 2009 , he was asked to recognise that 'the cuts will have a major impact on workers , projects and communities....' but refused to do so. He knew what was on the cards re this issue , and used a so-called 'appeals process' to stall for time before officially announcing the bad news , in the hope that , with the passing of time , tempers would have cooled and the pressure would be off him.
The imposed merger of the Community Development Projects with the Local Development Partnership Companies is not working out too well in the Clondalkin area of Dublin where , almost three years after such a 'take over' was implemented , important issues remain outstanding. That does not bode well for future 'mergers' of that type.
Thanks!
Sharon.
Well done to Rita for your report on the gravy train brigade . I agree we can all ensure our future can be ''crystal balled'' by
what you are saying , i also think we should all adopt a more positive attitude in which to put the greedy one's in their proper
place , they actually work FOR us, you know, or have They forgetten that major fact of life .
