SIPTU President nearly loses it on Tonight with Vincent Browne

category national | worker & community struggles and protests | other press author Tuesday June 01, 2010 13:03author by Kerry Worker - Kerry Public Service Workers' Alliance Report this post to the editors

Jack O'Connor questioned on his support for Croke Park proposals.

The President of Ireland's biggest Trade Union, SIPTU, nearly lost it on Tonight with Vincent Browne last night. He was being questioned about his complete cave-in on the Croke Park proposals, having been on the same show six months earlier threatening strike action unless the government reversed the public sector pay cuts.

Obviously not used to being questioned in such a direct manner, Jack O'Connor huffed and puffed and nearly threw the microphone off in righteous indignation that someone would see through his fighting rhetoric as mere posturing.

See the opening ten minutes of the show at the following link:

O'Connor and Begg talk a good game, but they are not walking the walk with the workers.

The state is being run in the interests of finance capital.
Workers living standards are being depressed so that more of the economic surplus is available for international capital.

O'Connor and Begg are complicit in this attack on the working class. Their rhetoric is hypocritical, they have no shame. But they're only fooling some of the people. The real opposition is coming from Paddy Healy and Joe Higgins.

Watch the part where O’Connor says to Browne that what he (Browne) was saying was “dangerous at this time”. Radical Jack obviously realises that his sellout deal would be in trouble if the plebs actually found out what was in the agreement. FÁS McLoone and his IMPACT executive have pulled a fast one to rescue the deal. Luckily for O’Connor there is fuck all opposition to him and his cronies.

In typical O’Connor fashion he hadn’t the balls to actually walk off the show. Just like his threats of strike – all mouth – no action. Wanker.

Jack is a very dangerous man who is doing a great job to help the Irish establishment exploiters out of this recession. Unfortunately he is helped by the fact that the siptu members are totally passive and without any real leadership. Without 'Yellow Jack the establishment and its mouthpiece In RTE would have had a much tougher time propagandising, brainwashing and screwing workers out of their incomes and retirement ages. I see the french government are afraid to put up the retirement age in France in spite of EU pressure to do the same as in Ireland and raise the age above 65. Maybe 'yellow' jack Connor and 'vote yes for the aul lisbon jobs' Horan could be send to France to convince the workers that the Ibec and the bosses are really the workers partners?

Jack O Connor proved himself and SIPTU have no balls by what he did on TV3. He is all threat and no action. He should have walked when he threatened to. Because of the cozy partnership arrangement over the last 20 years these union heads have lost their balls.
