Not much notice taken by our mainstream media of the Wiki revelations of the depth of penetration of Shell into the echelons of Nigeria's parliamentarians. But then, they buy journalists and editors too. When you rip off that many billions, its not a big deal to kick back a few grand here and there. Good business practise. Oils the wheels, so to speak. Tops up Pat's nest-egg from the taxpayers, along with whatever was spread from the developers dropsy.

Why sign off on a highly controversial project, which faces judicial review, on your last day in office? What is the gain? Who benefits? Not the nation. Not the state.
SOmeone once said, if you're mystified about a decision, follow the money. Ask, who benefits. The answer here is, Shell and Statoil.
