Even if you're a Londoner, you probably didn?t notice that June 21st-29th was 'London Climate Action Week'. It was all talk, says Ben Pile ? exceptionally dull talk, bankrolled by the usual Green Blob billionaires.

As Wimbledon gets underway, its SW19 neighbours have to put up with a lot, from encroaching development to security checks to get home. Yet, unlike 1,000 refugees, they're shut out from the tennis, says Jo-Anne Nadler.

Report Back on Greenore Cooley Fisherman's Association: 'On The Quiet'

category louth | environment | news report author Monday April 11, 2011 11:17author by Sean Crudden - GCFAauthor email sean.crudden at iol dot ieauthor address Jenkinstown, Dundalk, Co Louthauthor phone 0879739945 Report this post to the editors

Routine Meeting of Greenore Cooley Fisherman's Association

A special meeting of Greenore Cooley Fisherman’s Association took place in 5 Anglesea Terrace, Greenore, Co Louth, on Sunday morning 10 April 2011. The meeting commenced at 10.45 with a morning prayer after breakfast and concluded at 11.38 with a prayer for unity. The Archbishop read both prayers from the small Redemptorist prayer book.

Present; Archbishop Michael Desmond Hynes OMD PhD, chairperson; Seán Crudden, secretary; Eric Cuthbert.

An apology was received from Eric Hynes who was golfing in Portumna.

Eric mentioned rumours circulating that tons of mackerel were being unloaded on the quiet at night in Killybegs and Scotland.

The secretary read the minutes of the previous meeting held on 19 September 2010. The minutes were adopted unanimously on the proposal of the chairperson seconded by Eric.

The secretary read an e-mail he had sent to the county secretary, Paddy Donnelly, on 21 September 2010 requesting bins and a toilet/urinal for The Cutting. The e-mail also detailed the problem of dust in Greenore from animal feed being unloaded in the port; and coastal erosion to the east of Greenore.

The meeting was not completely satisfied with a letter in response from senior engineer, Raymond McKenna, so it was resolved to write to the Environmental Protection Agency to ascertain any view it might have on the dust in Greenore.

The secretary was instructed to contact the secretary of Greenore Residents’ and Tidy Towns Association to see what their view is on providing a toilet and bins on The Cutting. There had been a no from Louth County Council. Eric suggested contacting a few prominent business people in the area to canvass the idea of sponsoring a toilet and bins for The Cutting. The secretary promised to follow up the idea.

Eric raised once again the question of the number of feathers used in angling for mackerel.

The chairperson expressed deep sympathy for the two Skerries lobster fishermen, Ronan Browne and David Gilsenan, who were lost at sea on 1 April 2011 and drowned.

It was decided to attempt to convene an AGM in The Blue Anchor, Bellurgan, Co Louth, at 20.00 on 20 June 2011.
