19J #Globalrevolution

We are the outraged, the anonymous, the voiceless. We were there, silent but alert, watching. Not gazing upward at the powers that be, but looking from side to side for the right time to unite with each other.

No political party, association or trade union represents us. Nor do we want them to, because each and every one of us speaks for her or himself. Together, we want to design and create a world where people and nature come first, before economic interests. We want to design and build the best possible world. Together we can and we will. Unafraid
19June: People of the world, rise up!!!
19June: People of the world, rise up!!!

The first sparks started to fly in the Arabic countries, where thousands of people took over streets and squares, reminding their governments where the real power lies. The Icelanders followed, taking to the streets to speak their mind and decide their future. And it wasn’t long before Spaniards occupied squares in neighborhoods, towns and cities. Now the flame is swiftly spreading through France, Greece, Portugal, Italy and Turkey, and the cries of peaceful demonstrators echo across America and Asia, where new movements are cropping up everywhere. Only a global revolution can confront global problems. The time has come for the woman and man in the street to take back their public spaces to debate and build a new future together.

This is a call to the #Globalrevolution on 19 June. We’re calling on people everywhere to peacefully occupy public squares and create spaces for debate, assembly and reflection. It's our duty to reclaim the public arena and together forge the kind of world we want to live in.

Take the square!!! Take the streets!!! #Globalrevolution

All persons are welcome. Acampada groups and some assemblies in Real democracy now Spain are calling for a demonstration worldwide to say NO TO THE EURO PACT: We are not goods in the hands of politicians and bankers. People in Ireland should be also there! We should be there!. The reasons:

The EURO PACT: New attack on democracy ONCE AGAIN.

ONCE AGAIN, the EU leaders endorse a policy misleading the public to the benefit of large financial corporations, instead of defending the citizens.

On 27th June, all European governments, including that of Spain, will sign in Brussels a major socioeconomic daylight robbery of an international scope: the so-called Euro Pact, by which the politicians of the European Union agree to legislate the orders of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), European Central Bank (ECB) and the World Bank (WB).

Failure to comply with these orders means, the rating agencies that have led Greece, Ireland and Portugal to the ruins (Moody's, Standard & Poor's, and Fitch) will resume their attacks.

THERE ARE REASONS; ONCE AGAIN, TAKE THE STREET

19th June, hour: 19:00 (GMT+1)
ALL STREETS AND SQUARES OF SPAIN AND EUROPE

NO TO THE EURO PACT: We are not goods in the hands of politicians and bankers.

WHAT DO THEY SIGN WHEN THEY RATIFY THE EURO PACT?

- The public sector salaries should be consistent with the competitiveness of the private sector, WHICH MEANS: further cuts in the public sector as it must offer the same benefits as the private sector´s derisory wages and increasing working hours. Including a sharp cut in the numbers of public employees.

- Therefore all countries should adjust their laws to the dictates of the banks, WHICH MEANS governments are ONCE AGAIN not legislating for the protection and interests of citizens but in the favour of large banking corporations and the markets.

- The retirement age will be delayed in all the countries in accordance with life expectancy.

- Enhancing competitiveness: linking wages to productivity, just like what has already been done in Spain with the latest labour reform which calls for more flexible redundancy laws, more flexible labour agreements and more flexible contracts, thus endangering the current system of collective negotiation of labour laws.

- To foster cheap lay-offs and Temporary Employment Agencies (TEA). The banks will lower the financial strains to encourage the hiring of workers, and in doing so will demolish the Social Security system and will be introducing the figure of "the perpetual intern and the perpetual precarious worker”.

- The freezing of all pensions.

- Reduction of social benefits.

- Reduction of the social protection systems, worsening the Social Security system.

- Reduction of spending on education, resulting in poorer results, which are conditions that favour and promote its ultimate privatisation.

- Increased direct and indirect taxes for citizens, small and medium businesses and penalties for not complying with the payment of these taxes through fines, interest, fees, etc.

- Changes to our constitution and that of the signatory countries with the aim of "adjusting the economy within the parameters of the IMF, ECB and World Bank” resulting in the loss of sovereignty of the people.

ONCE AGAIN, governments do not use political power to legislate and to stop the provokers of the crisis and international banks and large hedge funds, for example, stepping in against financial corporations. Instead, with the signing of the Pact of the Euro scheduled for June 27, will strengthen the large financial corporations and adopt policies that are of interest to banks and large European companies. As if we hadn´t had enough, all governments independently of their political colour, will sign this agreement to commit to large financial corporations and thus, as ever, sacrifice the citizens ONCE AGAIN, enabling the financiers to continue defrauding the world using financial products that are as sophisticated as they are risky and fraudulent, and permitting bank usury.

Using the deception that to deal with the debt crisis that grips Europe, increasing the competitiveness of national economies can only be achieved by reducing labour costs ... ONCE AGAIN.

Still no mention of intervention in tax havens where the great fortunes rest or making laws against tax evasion. Still no talk of taxing financial transactions, regulating rating agencies, etc. Still no mention of measures against unemployment and in favour of social welfare.

Still there is no consideration for a public and independent audit of the public debt in order to enable citizens to know what the debt really is and what part of it actually corresponds to the banks and private equity funds which according to the data we have constitutes most of the PUBLIC DEBT.

ONCE AGAIN, we are served the impoverishment of society on a platter in benefit of expanding the great fortunes and accentuating the social divide.

In this way, the historical record of the profits of large financial corporations are ONCE AGAINenlarged even more, the record high salaries of CEOs and executives will increase even more, and thus we reach record levels of poverty and unemployment.

The difficulty of accessing this information is due to the lack of political transparency and the fear that ALL OF EUROPE will TAKE THE STREET.

THERE ARE REASONS; ONCE AGAIN, TAKE THE STREET

Hands up if you've had enough
http://www.politico.ie/crisisjam/7579-hands-up-if-youve...nough

The brittle edifice that has so far kept the Irish populace quiescent in the face of destruction will crack; once it does, it will crumble to dust, writes Hugh Green.

There was something of a fad a little while ago for spry discussion of the passivity of the Irish population in the face of overwhelming austerity measures. But that was before the concentrated popular resistance now on display in Spain, Greece and elsewhere, and the process of re-politicization underway in those countries. It hasn’t happened yet in Ireland, not by any stretch of the imagination.

People are planning mass protests for 19 June against the Euro Pact. In Ireland, hardly anyone knows what the Euro Pact, or the Euro-Plus Pact is. There will be protests in Ireland too, most likely. Maybe they will capture public imagination, maybe not. But these, and other demonstrations and campaigns, will keep chipping away at the brittle edifice that keeps people contained in passivity and disorientation. And once it cracks, it will crumble to bits.

We are Ireland, we will resist
http://www.politico.ie/crisisjam/7473-we-are-ireland-we...esist
Many people in Ireland are only too aware that some Greek protesters, at the start of last year, chanted 'we are not Ireland, we will resist' in response to the policies of austerity unleashed upon the population. In Ireland, the chant stung leftists and cheered ruling elites.

And yet for all that, there is still widespread popular sympathy in Ireland for Marxist revolutionary James Connolly's apothegm that 'the cause of labour is the cause of Ireland, the cause of Ireland is the cause of labour'. The idea of a different Ireland already exists.

Ireland is indeed Greece, it is Spain, it is Portugal, and - once the shock of 2010 has worn off - it will resist.

Press Release

June 17th, 2011.....

Europe-wide protests to hit Dublin (+ Cork, Limerick, Galway) as protesters reject Europact

Date: Sunday, June 19th 2011
Time: 4pm-7pm
Location: The Spire, O’Connell Street, Dublin

June 19 will see Europe-wide protests against the forthcoming Europact and a Dublin demonstration, organized by Real Democracy, will take place at O’Connell Street’s Spire from 4pm. Protests will also take place in Limerick, Cork and Galway [INCLUDE MORE INFO ON LIMERICK, CORK AND GALWAY PROTESTS]

The ‘Europact’ is due to be signed on XXXX and includes measures of fiscal, wage and public service reform for all member states. According to the European Council, these measures are to bring greater competitiveness and flexibility, as well as fiscal and financial responsibility. However, Real Democracy activists disagree.

“The Europact will copper fasten the way the crisis is already being managed”, according to Fulanito, a Real Democracy organiser, “it will mean more austerity, attacks on working conditions and undermining of public services.”

The Irish demonstration will follow the lead of Spain’s Real Democracy Now movement, which initially proposed a coordinated European response to the Europact, by combining public protest and public assembly; everyone will have a chance to speak, express grievances and take collective decisions on further action. The organizers have expressed frustration with the “political establishment”. “We have no faith in the politicians”, said Fulanita, “we want to reinvent democracy, bring it to the streets and create an assembly where everyone can represent themselves; because the politicians don’t represent us”.

19-J Against the Euro Pact Real Democracy in Europe NOW!
Author: Hugh Green of The Punishment of Sloth
Published: June 14th, 2011
http://www.irishleftreview.org/2011/06/14/19j-euro-pact...rope/
http://hughgreen.wordpress.com/

Whatever you wish to call it -euro-pact, Pact for the Euro, Euro Plus Pact- and from here on it will be known simply as the Euro Pact, public knowledge of its scope and function, in Ireland at least, has been extremely limited.

Whilst both the parties presently in government, and those that preceded them, campaigned resolutely for a Yes vote on Lisbon, and in so doing presented the European Union as a land of enlightenment, milk and honey, the subsequent experience of the EC-IMF-ECB bailout has served to temper public enthusiasm, to say the least, about the European project.

However, since day-to-day news coverage has been devoted to the potential permutations of corporation tax rates and bailout interest rates, the character of the forthcoming Euro Pact, in terms of its implications for the vast majority of the population, has been almost completely obscured.

This is hardly surprising: the neo-liberal ideology that underpins the Pact is propagated as common sense in Ireland, and the idea of Ireland at the heart of Europe, whilst assiduously promoted by astroturf civil society groups, never entailed the population of Ireland participating in politics in Europe...
