Lat Thursday 10 a.m., on the eve of the Royal Wedding, Giuseppe Conlon House received a call out from Peter Tatchell to head down to Buckhigham Palace to support Bahrain exiles & human rights activists in their protest against the Royal wedding invite to Saudi invaders of Bahrain. We were able to scramble 5 Giuseppe Conlon House volunteers (2x Australian CW's, a Czech athiest, Scottish Marxist and a Polish cemeraman!) and got in there for kick off at 2pm...not a bad rapid response time! read full story / add a comment

On 26th April two Open Letters were published concerning Riverdance's planned tour of Israel in September 2011. The first is from Irish artist Robert Ballagh who was the set designer for Riverdance, and the second is from Raymond Deane, Cultural Boycott Officer of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign. read full story / add a comment

Afri, along with other global justice NGOs, has long highlighted issues surrounding 'Third World' (Global South) debt and IMF/World Bank structural adjustment - including the erosion of sovereignty in the Global South and the devastating socio-economic consequences. The annual Good Friday walk went ahead yesterday despite the heavy rain. About 83 people walked the length of Shell's 9km proposed raw gas pipeline. The walk is a symbolic act to push Shell out of this beautiful area. read full story / add a comment

Fifteen people have been killed in Ahwaz, a city in Iran's Khuzestan province, according to Al Arabiya News Channel. Iranian security forces backed by militias dressed in civilian clothes broke up demonstrations by force.

The group “Youth of April 15” said in its pages on Facebook and Twitter that 15 people from Ahwaz have been killed and dozens have been wounded since demonstrations began last Friday. Friday had been declared as a “Day of Rage” to demand rights for the ethnic Arab majority in Iran’s Khuzestan province. “The humanitarian situation is very bad,” and there were reports of a lack of the food and water, the group said. read full story / add a comment

On Sunday April 17th at 2pm the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) marked Palestinian Prisoners Day with a demonstration at the Spire in O'Connell St, Dublin.

The demonstration called for the release of all Palestinian political prisoners imprisoned by the Israeli State - those 'convicted' in Israeli Military courts and those interned without trial under the 'Administrative Detention' regime. This year there was a special focus on the issue of child prisoners - of which there are currently 216 (45 under the age of 16) being held in Israeli jails.[1] read full story / add a comment

The meeting commenced at 10.45 with a morning prayer after breakfast and concluded at 11.38 with a prayer for unity.
