The new deepwater port, a joint venture between REO and Drogheda Port with Hong Kong maritime conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa lined up to develop the master plan, could ultimately replace Dublin Port if the Government was to decide that it should be relocated; one of Bremore’s selling points is its close proximity to the M1 motorway.....so many unrealised plans by different developers over the past 20 years that it seems as if some sort of jinx hangs over it. read full story / add a comment

Yesterday, in the Galway Alliance Against War organised 99 Red Balloons Peace Event, revulsion and outrage were expressed against the highjacking of the relatively pristine Volvo Ocean Race to piggy back a display by the RAF Red Arrows over Galway Bay, touting militarism with their bullshit antics in the sky and catering to the desensitized appetites of the faithful down below - some of whom, in the throes of their warped morality hurled abuse at the peace mongers assembled in the Spanish Arch Plaza. read full story / add a comment

Since 2006, MAOR have been actively engaged in a surprising range of activities that push the boundaries of political discussion and bring the issues to the streets, the airwaves and back to communities. This week MAOR Street Theatre Group took to the streets of Derry in an exciting street theatre event, highlighting the human rights abuses perpetrated by Multinational giants that the Irish government is happy to do business with. Earlier this week Royal Dutch Shell went on trial for complicity in the torture and killing of Nigerian protestors in 1995. read full story / add a comment

Jon Anza, claimed by ETA as one of their militants, has been missing for over a month. ETA claims the Spanish police knew of his membership and also that Spanish undercover police are very active in the northern Basque Country with the collusion of the French police. His disappearance raises fears of a return to the clandestine (and illegal) activities of assassination squads such as GAL operating with French state support. read full story / add a comment
